Chronicles of the Going Home Club #01 — Bears!

The deadliest enemy.

Impressions:

More amusing and creative than I expected and probably the funniest first episode of the three comedies today. It is, however, rather painfully chomping at the budget-bit very badly already. The straight man also needs to be gagged. Possibly with a fork down her throat. Her only purpose seems to be screaming out that a joke has been made instead of simply letting one flow more naturally into the next. Even just giving her a more subdued or exasperated reaction like GA Art Class did with Namiko or GJ did with that-guy-that-combed-everyone’s-hair would have helped things a lot. Most of the other characters were doing a decent job being amusing without her interrupting things to yell every 10 seconds. The snap jokes like trying to play the OP and ED in the wrong places did at least match with her reactions though. Not so much her interrupting the bear illuminati.

The production probably wasn’t helping much either. The art and animation is middling at best. If they could put a little more effort into the animation overall, that might help balance out all the screaming in the same way that Muromi did. As it is, we just have sedate surreality (which I enjoyed), punctuated rathing jarringly by generic splash screens and yelling. Otherwise, a rather large otherwise I’m aware, the visuals, unanimated as they usually are, do compliment and support the humor

It still made me laugh enough times to earn it a second look or two at least, but there are some definite issues here that don’t excite me and the main character is only going to get more annoying if she just keeps screaming about everything.

Next Episode:

Tea.

Let me guess? ANOTHER cute girl show where nothing happens, ever?. It is too much to ask for action OR violence OR blood OR decent plot OR nice visuals?.

  • Violence? How about “Stella Jogakuin C3-bu” AKA “Girls und Airsoft”?

  • The Phantom says:

Tried that, It had a little action in it, I however think that it will degenerate into moe crap in 1~2 episodes more.

Holy shit the MC was annoying. I understand classic Japanese comedy calls for a straight man to point out the jokes but she was doing it to the point of suffocating any comedic value that the jokes had. I wish she would be gone from the show, as the rest of the cast were much more enjoyable.

Teddie finds that one character to be very grizzly.
