Vee Bee Ess Vee #05 — Booby Tests

Why will Hatred never goddamned go away? And almost all Brock did was exposit?

Impressions:

That was a bit of a bizarre episode. It doesn’t speak all that highly for the humor of it though that the best jokes were the random GI Joe names, and those were just throwaway gags. I think Bumrush and Tank Top probably deserve the highest praise there. I wish there had been more of them before they were unceremoniously offed. Hank’s finally out of the suit too, thank god. I don’t think that I’m much of a fan of the last five minutes being a great mass of twist moments either. Throwing the empty suit was too obvious for words, but then the investigators being Investors was just strange though, as was the Minority Report thing that was just there because… uh… an extra 60 seconds to pad out and to create a moronic commercial break cliffhanger? Same with the couple in the first half who then disappeared. I’m sure they’re a reference to something, but I can’t think of what.

I’m still not a huge fan of these somewhat spastic ‘plot’ driven episodes, but this was a lot better handled than most. The directing was tight and it wasn’t nearly as scattershot as most of the episodes this season, giving it better focus and structure, but I’m just not sure where a lot of the humor was supposed to be. It’s a trend in this season (and the first half of season 4) that I don’t particularly like. Even back in S3 when Brock was killing the assassins in sequence was filled with actual parodies and humor on top of it, not just some references and episodes upon episodes of "Hatred has tits."

Next Episode:

Random things.

I won’t get to see Fujiko’s tits on Adult Swim but I get to see Hatred’s. Why do you hate me FCC?

Guess I was the only who laughed when Brock got owned by an anime table flip.
