The UNLIMITED #05 — And Then They All Have Cake

February 4th, 2013

I wish I had cake.

Impressions:

Extremely boring talking heads episode. Various fussing/info dumping over Kyousuke, Yuugiri goes to an amusement park, psychically torments everyone there, everybody has cake. The end. Maybe that’s the reason they didn’t want a powerful mentally unstable esper roaming around in the middle of a public place full small people and dangerous fair equipment. It also rings a little hollow when they try to show an angry mob after they were all psychically attacked. Whatever they were actually going for in terms of espers and humans, they missed the mark entirely. Of course, you’d think they’d probably be terrified instead of pissed off about being subjected to that, but then again, they were  already at an amusement park. Those things have clowns.

Same with the later flashback about PANDRA’s espers as children standing untouched in the middle of a hellscape with a copter trying to… I don’t know… maybe make sure there aren’t more hellscapes. There’s a reason why 99% of the people that the X-Men rescue from the big bad government have relatively harmless powers and aren’t standing in craters of their own making in what used to be civilization. Yes, that was closer to the mark for your standard mutant supervillain backstory, but it was out of nowhere and right on the heels of Yuugiri’s far worse stuff.

And then they have cake.

Less cake.

    • Master Chief Snake says:

Yeah. There is a 2 cameos from internet characters were Nostalgia Critic and AVGN (Angry Video Game Nerd). James Rolfe (AVGN) and Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) would be proud.

  • algorithm says:

I can hear the talking heads just from the sceencaps.

  • TOP2NE1 says:

Is this the episode with the Nostalgia Critic and the AVGN in the background?

    • Master Chief Snake says:

Yes. James Rolfe (AVGN) and Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) would be proud. But member of TGWTG studio (Channel Awesome) was JesuOtaku witnessed the scene and showed it to TGWTG (Doug Walker) and well as Cinemassacre (James Rolfe). I could imagine if Funimation could bring Nigahiga and Smosh to their anime show as cameo appearance.
