The Monster Next to Me #10 — Christmas Cape
December 3rd, 2012
I really hope that’s not a thing.
Impressions:
Brace yourself, because I’m going to say the same thing as what feels like the last month, only this time with more santa hats opera masks. Continued focus on blondie silently fuming to himself, and the pathetic attempts to pretend like there’s a triangle there annoy me. Having Natsume tell him to step off probably isn’t helping. Maybe we should develop that to something beyond brooding, but then again, that might threaten the precious fated romance of the show and we can’t have that! I have no idea what the wallflower’s doing in the show either other than eat up screen time with such compelling scenes like "You should come to the party" *dramatic pause* "I really can’t go to the party" *dramatic pause* "You really should!" *dramatic pause while she looks shocked.*
Top it all off with another ‘touching’ scene on the stairs about their feelings despite the two of them being secondary characters through the previous 18 minutes reset it immediately, and that’s another episode down having gone nowhere, done nothing, and not been particularly amusing along the way. Ramp the comedy back to where it was early on, give their relationship some actual development, or give the side characters some actual focus instead of half-assing it. Pick one, pick all. Of course, with only a few weeks left, I’m sure they’ll pick none. A man can still dream.
