Yada Yada Love Brother #02 — Word of the Day: Tsundere
October 12th, 2012
Congrats, Silver Link. Now we can pretend like it’s 2006 and that’s all the rage again.
Impressions:
This wasn’t really any significantly different or better than the first episode. Everybody tried to seduce him in turn again while he mostly stood there like a moldy log. The word of the day was "tsundere," although the joke about them being terrible at being it was about as funny as my explanation here. Akito really kills a lot of the humor. Thinking back to its spiritual sister with the spindly arms where the humor worked a lot of the time, the way they literally tortured him, intentionally and un, in their obsession was where a lot of the humor came from. This still hasn’t gone anywhere near far enough over the line to actually turn from bad cliche to parody. I’m not saying that Captain Mildew has to be screaming and recoiling in terror the entire time, but he needs are least some kind of personality instead of the same copy and pasted face and reactions the entire goddamned episodes. It’s hard to shake the feeling that the entire harem is trying to bang a slightly more mobile tree.
At least Akiko remains kind of cute and moronic looking dancing chibis in the ED are a better note than most shows end on.
Sigh. Fridays.
