CØDE:BREAKER #01 — Shiny Happy People

October 6th, 2012

I’m pretty sure he’s not qualified to determine when it’s appropriate to mercy kill a dog either.

Just FYI, Magi airs at around ass’o’clock my time. I’ll just get to it whenever I wake up, which is never a predictible time on Sundays.

Impressions:

Extremely boring first episode until the last 5 minutes or so. They probably could’ve skipped well… almost all of that. What was even the point of pretending like he might be some normal guy after outright showing it was him to the audience AND the OP? Do you think 10 minutes of "Maybe this guy is normal after all" is really going to fly? Even when things picked up, the terrible censoring still made things ridiculous. Well, so did the ‘wacky’ dog scampering about in the middle of what was ostensibly a serious scene, as well as the encounter with a wild orchestra. This show’s background music was juuuust a tad ridiculous for the most part.

It did seem like it had a little talent and effort put in during the brief action scenes, but those were pretty painfully brief and the rest of the episode was anything but impressive. Sigh. How far you have fallen in just a couple weeks in the production department, Saturdays. There were only two characters that received any appreciable focus this episode and they were about as cookie cutter as they come, so precious little intelligent to say there either. Ease off on the orchestra and ramp up the action. You have super powered humans that shoot flame and judo girls. Those are your ‘strengths.’ Use them instead of faffing about for two thirds of the episode doing bloody nothing.

    Thank you.

  • Nanaya says:

Seems like you’ve been commenting on orchestras and bgm more than usual… got music on the mind lately?

Lame show, this season… I’m already hoping that it ends fast.
