Joshiraku #08 — Holy Water

August 23rd, 2012

That’s really the best punchline you could come up with?

So, uh… Apparently MBS aired two episodes again for Joshiraku this morning and I didn’t notice. It’s back to a Thursday show for the rest of the season. But wait! There’s more schedule hazardry that I’ll get to with the AT-X thing.

Impressions:

The first part was fairly atrocious and was more unfortunately nearly half the episode. It began with lingual ‘jokes’ of just listing words with similar starting sounds and never really got any better. The music for that ‘ending’ portion deserves some special note for being particularly awful. It did rally a little bit towards the end of it, but at that point, I was just praying for it to end.

The travel segment was about as mediocre as most of them. The whole ‘holy’ water joke with the Jizou thing was a little bit inexplicably lame for the setup. Most of the rest I’ve already forgotten and even looking at my own screencaps isn’t helping. The last part was about May Syndrome, something that I had successfully forgotten had existed in Japan. I’m not even sure how I learned about it in the first place. Probably some obnoxious Zetsubou Sensei episode.

So as you can tell by the amount of the episode that I’ve forgotten in the time it took to sort caps, it was not a memorable one. More slapstick. More abuse. More actual groaner puns instead of brainstorming words. Less annoying panflute squeaking in the background. Please.
