Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere #18 — Dance Revolution and Naked Boys

August 4th, 2012

At least Toori’s ass doesn’t get the camera shoved into it.

Horizon is off on MBS next week, but they’re airing two episodes back to back the week after so it’ll catch right back up. About a dozen stations air the show over the course of the week though and they’re all on the same episode, so it’ll probably just mean a day or two delay at worst for next week only.

Impressions:

The lack of focus worked against it fairly badly this week, especially in the middle when they decided to cut away from the half dozen fights they started to putz around with all the characters out on dates. Thankfully, that only lasted a few minutes, but it really should’ve been practically anywhere other than right in the middle of the episode. A little more focus could’ve helped in general, especially for the fights that were introduced at the very start and then ignored until the closing seconds at which point I went "Oh yeah… Uh, what happened to all that?" Not generally something you want to be saying. Also, the naked glowing little boy emerging out of his own hammer complete with close-up of his ass is probably something that could’ve and/or should’ve been located in an entirely different show.

Mostly though, a nice solid episode and it’s good to see the action back; the Oxford Trumps vs assorted Musashi characters. Margot and Neit had the best fights of those shown by far, and Neit’s was one of the ones introduced and then ignored. Honda’s fight wasn’t bad either, it was just disappointingly brief. Suzu and The-Tank-Girl-Whose-Name-I’ve-Forgotten were just off having weird escapades on their own. Malga probably had the weakest and yet also the longest, both for the usual reasons and problems of characters spending more time telling each other what they’re doing and/or having tea. Poor Malga has had it rough all this season. Didn’t she used to have multiple harems of themed frat boys? Oh well. Now she has Gin instead. It’s a step up.

I was hoping for Margot to step in and save her wife. Oh well. I guess that can come later when she storms the Spanish Armada to save her.

But seriously, was not expecting Gin there. At all.
