Shana-tan Final Destruction #02 — Smelling Things With Chiara

Smells like BBQ.
Unfortunately, that was the best segment by far. The last ‘educational’ bit was probably the worst of all of them through every Shana-tan ever. They’re usually terrible anyway, trying to play off the convoluted and nonsensical exposition as jokes despite wallowing in it for the entire series, but this one took that then went "We are soooooooooooo genre savvy." They’d have been better served trying to make even more ridiculous denizens or Flame Haze container things than… that. And it lasted five goddamned minues. FIVE. Out of nine and a half total for the entire thing. Half of it was literally "overblown exposition and/or our setting is ridiculous, but we went with this stuff anyway." Sigh. I’d rather have watched Chiara continue smelling things. Oh JC Staff. What happened to you?

SUBS FUCKING WHERE
I’d say JC Staff was my least favorite anime studio, but SHAFT has yet to go out of business, so that would be a lie, and Xebec is still… Xebec, Nyarlkos being fun or not.
I am kind of curious if something actually did happen over at JC Staff or they just stopped trying.
