Place to Place #10 — When Animals Attack

June 7th, 2012

The number one threat as always: Bears.

FYI, both TBS shows (this and Sanka Rea) are preempted next week, so no new episodes. Happy Bread is also expected to be delayed an unknown amount of time.

Impressions:

The first half was okay, but it did feel like they could’ve done a whole lot more with it. Mayoi was dressed up like a bear (with a generous definition for bear) and was trying to scare people. That was really about it though. Tsumiki just glared like you’d expect, Hime was scared like you’d expect, and Sakaki was the recipient of violence like you’d expect. They were basically just going through the motions without any particularly new twists or creativity on what we’ve already seen before.

The second half was back to the cafe for Christmas part timery. It was not what one would call particularly exciting, although listening to Jingle Bells in June while it’s pouring rain here certainly makes you think. They work. They sell cakes. Mayoi makes one random twisted interpretation of Santa/lovers. Tsumiki tugs on Io’s jacket as they leave. The usual. Nothing to see here. I guess Sakaki trying to whore out Io as a special bonus to sell cakes was the high point of the half, but that’s being pretty generous.

Preview:

Marking territory.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Anise_Punter says:

Oh good, the hyperactive green thing is back, she’s the only redeeming thing in the whole cast.

  • Shinmarizu says:

The abject fear from the teacher did put a smile on my face.

  • Jack says:

I thought the first have was fairly funny. The bit with the teacher was great. It’s too bad they can’t keep that pace up for more than 20-seconds.

It’s better than that happy bread series.
