Place to Place #08 — “Let’s Snipe”
May 24th, 2012
Those festival games seem far too unrigged.
Impressions:
Fairly weak first half. Haven’t they already done the whole Summer = Hot thing? Well, they it yet again at any rate, with the first three or four minutes being mostly Mayoi complaining about the heat. It also reduced all the characters to slugs, so the show was lacking even more energy than usual. It didn’t really get too much better when they went over to Io’s. Not to sound like a broken record, but energy, physical humor, better, etc. It’s especially bad when they use two jokes in a row with the exact same setup like that Power Stone bit while Sakaki and Mayoi were supposed to be finishing studying.
The second half was a little better. The gold fish parts of Tsumiki’s catness inciting them and Io’s animal magnetism attracting swarms of them were probably the high points. Tsumiki turning on Io and trying to shoot him to win him was cute too. Most of it though was pretty sedate. I’m not sure what else to say beyond that. Where’d all the side characters go in recent weeks anyway? They just kind of up and vanished. Although it may just be that they didn’t need a bigger cast because they weren’t engaging in any larger games/acts of violence. I miss those.
Preview:
Stalking the prey.

The main reason why I dropped the series: every damn time Tsumiki nosebleeds. It doesn’t fit her at all! Isn’t it why we got Hime for that?
