In the first half, it successfully introduced one character before they all sat in a circle and discussed who to introduce next, and then said character went into an excessively melodramatic mahjong-induced flashback about her angsty mahjong groupie past. And then it’s apparently winter. That was a long commercial break. Mostly it confirmed that when I can’t make of Nodoka’s rude tits, there’s little else here to keep my attention. Not that I think adding other tits or children dressed as prostitutes like the first series did would help either. Maybe something other than just listing out/flashing back character traits and motivations would help…
And I can’t really say that this has drawn me in any more than the first episode did. Aside from scissors gimmick, which basically took over for the spit gimmick this week, the other 20 or so minutes were approaching pure undistilled banality punctuated by Captain Clueless being confused instead of pondering such compelling mysteries as "What do couples do?" for an entire episode. Thrilling. That Korra/YJ plan is looking better and better.
