What was the point of this?

Impressions:

Well, this was terrible. Yes, I am aware that Ikkitousen and terrible are practically synonymous since Dragon Destiny, and through most of it too, but this was just some random OVA. All they had to do was make up some flimsy premise, flash a little skin, and have a decent fight or two. Guess which one of the three they got actually did. Basically a school trip to go gather POWER MEDALLIONS. Except for Hakufu who was too busy peeing. And Kyoshou was too busy repairing the damage they did to the train station to participate after the opening minute or two. Then the big final battle at the end was over some stupid gift store cellphone charm. …And what made Hakufu finally get serious was Kann-u calling Nanyo stupid. Sigh.

It was practically indistinguishable from the horrible time wasting episodes of GG where they fought sharks or Ryofu took them to amusement parks only without the sharks or Ryofu. And even better, in case you’ve forgotten them, both the fights were set to the OPs of DD and GG. Not even new music, Ikkitousen? Really? At least the Hakufu/Kann-u fight wasn’t completely horrible, but I’d only barely put it above what Symphogear and Evol do every week and coming off of thirty minutes of absolutely nothing (and again, being precipated by a gift store trinket), I was already pretty much asleep.
