Aquarion EVOL #09 — Black Hole vs the Big Bang
February 26th, 2012
Big Bang is very very bouncy.
Impressions:
Better than last week, although Andy’s brief bit was handled much much better than Mix Big Bang. Her stuff was just kind of randomly spat out. It’s like they realized they were out of time for the episode and just summarized her backstory into a couple bullet points. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer that approach when the story/exposition is bad anyway, lest we get into another endless exposition-a-thon like Shana, but I’d prefer even more for it to just be something other than a character spitting out that she has daddy issues and then sort of getting her over it in about two fifteen second paragraphs. I guess someone really really wanted to get into the philosophy of donuts and donut holes.
Anyway, still more a Big Bang episode than an Andy episode, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more from one or both in future. Aside from his rampant holelust, he’s pretty well-adjusted though. Big Bang’s power ended up being "filling holes," so there’s really not even the faintest shred of doubt at all about her being paired with him anymore. Given the sexual nature of the Aquarions, her ‘filling’ the ‘holes’ of the enemy mech’s (ie missile batteries and exhaust ports) is certainly one way to blueball them. Andy still didn’t get to combine with her, only lurk creepily behind her in naked astral form… maybe in her mind, maybe not. It’s honestly hard to tell with this show if he was actually there or she was just imagining him naked basically on her back while she was thinking about… filling holes.
