High School DxD #03 — A Nipply Day

I like how the gaping spider-vagina is just for show and the nipples are the real danger.

Impressions:

This could have been cool if it wasn’t so bad. Wait a minute, this isn’t a Brave 10 post… or is it? Let me check again… Ah yeah, nipples firing lasers. It’s a DxD post. Or a Milky Holmes post… No, this isn’t animated well enough to be Milky Holmes. The worst was easily Captain Crazy at the end. He sort of had promise as an antagonist, at least being of the mass-murdering and semi-rapist variety, although the cackling and rambling was a bit too much. Would it kill the characters in this show to shut up for a few seconds? But then he had to be so so so very badly animated that he probably took Polyphonica’s Van of Triumph to get there. I particularly ‘enjoyed’ every time he was hit. "Okay, my opponent is standing there, he’s injured, I have both weapons drawn and am facing him, he’s clearly about to attack… GAH! Punched in the face! That was the only thing I didn’t expect! Wait, now they’re throwing a desk at me? But it’s so badly animated and approaching so slowly. Gwah. I’ve been crushed. I’ll go kick the nun some more."

But the ‘fun’ started long before that. Things began with Issei trying to crack a case. Let me put the clues together for you. Crosses make him antsy, healing magic makes his devil hand ache, and churches freak him the hell out. What could it mean? Luckily, here’s Rias to explain that devils don’t like holy things. And that was the first five minutes of the episode. Sigh.

After that, they took Issei to watch them fight the aforementioned spider-vagina’d-nipple-laser fallen creature thingy while also teaching him about chess pieces and how everybody works together so that the king can move and cause checkmate. Apparently this is Japanese chess. I never bothered learning the rules to that, but apparently the king can cause checkmate and is somehow the most powerful piece on the board instead of the most useless. Also, you only have one pawn and conveniently play without a bishop in case who knows who could fill the spot later.

    i recommend you to read the light novel, if i wanna rate the MC is cool as touma from to aru no majutsu index even though he is perverted XD and so far the anime is following the light novel well beside the boob laser thingy ==

    and this series is quite popular if you check animesuki forum in manga section

    MC wish is to become HAREM king lol and so far based on the novel almost every girl have fallen for MC

    ok now we got a crazy wacky excorcist person who total nutcase really whoever voicing that excorcist is so PLAYING AGAINST TYPE.

    yet also laser shooting acid melt doobi beam?! yea queen’s blade called melona is so going why you doobi milk attack on it.

    also seem looking indeed plot starting to hmm with nun girl appear got wonder what next & being a pawn you got long way to be harem king.

    really wonder funi going to dub this series someday (must think which funi va to cast on it.)

    I am fervently convinced that very few scriptwriters in Japan have played chess; this is the third show I’ve heard about in recent memory where the rules are changed to add drama, but end up being hilarious to the audience. It got to the point where I looked through chess variants, to see if there was one where the King was somehow a true ‘Leader held up by all the little people, who has the best powers and wins the game for you’. Sadly, I found nothing but redirects to Shogi. I fear it is a conspiracy.
