C³ #11 — Tick……tock…tick………tock……………tick…tock…

December 10th, 2011

That’s the cadence of a clock designed to drive you insane.

Impressions:

Ugh. I really hated the clock thing they did with Alice’s giant info dump which was literally a video letter they were recording to tell Fear her entire plan. I think someone at Silver Link realized "This is absurdly dry… let’s add a clock and call it stylish." And then put a visual cut plus a tick/tock to the clock between lines, and if there’s nothing that sets you on edge more, it’s a clock with an arrythmic beat. The exposition was bad enough without a clock slowly trying to drive me mad. And then once the expositional dump that ate up most of the first half was over, it was about 30 seconds of Kirika’s ass before the second gigantic info dump of the episode.

So yeah… not a good episode and I think it took a slight bit of my sanity with it. Kuroe indeed had nothing to do with the murders (it was the crosses they were all wearing) and in fact, she just got to wave her butt at the screen briefly before spending the rest of it paralyzed/dolled. Come to think of it, between Kuroe and Kirika, if you strip out all the exposition, I think this episode was three minutes long, at least one of it was literally butts. Fear’s new weapon also looks like a giant backscratcher, so… yeah. There’s that to groan at too.

And Mummy Maker is still dead …

  • Nanaya says:

Hey!! They stole the clock thing from the Discworld series! Lord Vetinari has one in his waiting room, it’s designed specifically to screw up people’s psychological stability before they talk to him.

…Also, am I the only one who finds it odd that they decided to make ‘girl on hands and knees with face on the ground’ a recurring thing this ep? I mean, that seems like an oddly specific pose to choose to intersperse. Odd how you can almost make a calendar record of the director’s fetish of the week based on those choices.

Loved kiriko in this episode, and Fear new weapon looks amazing, and lol it seems that this show loves psychos as enemies, that nun is 100% crazy.

They are also increasing the fanservice not happy about that but for now is bearable.

  • Veneficae says:

I’m amazed that you didn’t noticed the worse thing about this episode…denying the laws of physics with a car looking 100% brand new after a incredibly cliche car crash.
