Countless Cat Gods #12 — Concealed Conclusion

September 23rd, 2011

Might as well end with a ‘Touhou’ reference, I guess.

Impressions:

No surprises here. Half the previous gods show up to watch over Yuzu in Mayu’s absence, although I’m fairly sure that champion pugilist Yoshino was more than enough to take on any threat. Mayu, meanwhile, wasn’t ever really in any danger even of being forced to loaf around in a different place, and even that was summarily dealt with by the power of half-assed life lessons that I’m fairly sure nobody actually learned. The big ‘conclusion’ could have just as easily happened about 3 minutes in as 18, but they had to fill in another 15 with putzing around. So once that was dealt with, she gets dropped off the moon and back home where Yuzu raised her voice for perhaps the second time in the entire show’s run. What a climax.

Very brief final thoughts at the bottom.

Final Thoughts:

YAWN. This’ll teach me to follow a show just because it airs in an evening that I’ve gotten used to watching shows in for most of the last year. Yes, I do feel a little bad for it because it was fairly ignored on the internet, but I really can’t say that there wasn’t a good reason for that. It’s not offensive in any way, but just really really dull. Not enough energy to be funny, not enough character to be touching, not enough atmosphere to be emotive. It’s just very very bland and I will be surprised if anybody even remembers that it existed within a year and that’s probably for the best.

Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Gear, Saturn and Dreamcast.
My true disappointment in this series is the lack of a Master System.
