Twin Thief Angels #05 — Warrior of Love

August 1st, 2011

Their disguises are flawless.

Impressions:

This episode was more bipolar than usual. The entire bit about Saijou being insecure and angsty about getting married while the same 16 bar piano riff played for what felt like half the episode was just plain painful. I have no idea why they dragged out the reveal for Saijou that Godot Black Trader was eeeeevil until almost 15 minutes into the episode either. And I still have the same problem with Saijou as last week. They spent the first three episodes making fun of her for being pathetic and poor. Now they add a melodramatic track, let her have ramen instead of eating live lobsters off the floor, and we’re supposed to feel sorry for her? Particuarly when she then starts rambling about being the warrior of love and throws colored chalk? Not buying it.

Thankfully, things picked up a lot towards the end. I know I keep saying it, but the show is actually funny when it eschews all sense and is just plain weird, like the butler taking Saijou’s place in the marriage meeting… rather ‘successfully’ might I add. I am still missing Salome and Tuxedo Mask. They were the funniest (and weirdest) parts of the first three episodes. There are also two more antagonists in the OP who are as yet unseen so far. They should probably get around to them eventually.

Sometimes it’s better not to wonder.
