Impressions:

Let’s put it this way… this episode made me think that perhaps Aria won’t be so bad this week. It was even worse than last week’s episode. The first half was all flashback to Mikuni’s past, except that it didn’t answer a single relevant question about him. Actually, there’s only one major one that needs to be answered in the first place… how is he connected to Kimimaro. No, I do not care that they introduced and proceeded to kill his sister in a four minute span. That’s not drama. That’s lazy. Also, I feel like him coming from an incredibly rich and powerful family undermines almost everything about his stance. I had assumed that he made it to the top by crawling over the corpses of his enemies, but I guess not!

The second half switched the monologue to MSYU, who unfortunately did about five minutes of pure crappy clips show recap. And when it wasn’t doing that, it was the CG people jerking around lazily. This was perhaps the worst made episode of the show yet, and that’s saying something. The only thing going on in the present was Kimimaro wondering about assets, why they look like they do, and getting into off-screen brawls when other people don’t treat theirs with respect. Then she decided that she wanted to try kissing because she saw it on TV. Way to stay on target here, [C]. This episode was just a bloody mess. Ugh.
