Is This a Zombie? #06 — Obligatory Menstruation Joke Included

February 14th, 2011

Yes, yes. Get it out of your system.

Impressions:

Good first half, turbulent and fairly nonsensical second. They did a good job with the direction of Eu vs Kyouko for being a fairly nonsensical battle of Eu saying "Die" over and over again and Kyouko… dropping dead. It was better than the beam spam exploding around Eu at any rate. They really should have put some of the animation budget they sank in there into the combination attack or Ayumu’s followup instead of making well animated generic explosions and dust clouds. I’m not sure why Eu needed the frilly pink costume change, but we can go with it. I was expecting a lot better from the team up attack though, especially given what followed. Kyouko deserved a lot better than to have Ayumu just suddenly break her sword out of nowhere and be reduced to little more than cowering and begging for her life, especially after bursting her eardrums. He didn’t even need to power up to super cute for that. We’ll also hold all jokes about the poor visual direction of Ayumu chopping off her legs to a minimum. Honestly, how can you show a torrent of blood shooting out from a girl’s crotch and not expect snarky comments?

As I said though, the second half got… weird, to put it mildly. Weird and extremely low budget for that matter. Haruna’s boss shows up and explains that Kyouko’s another one of her students just before an evil black death cloud that’s been living inside her takes her over and flies them off somewhere else. That doesn’t really answer any of my questions and just makes everything even more confused. Adding mind-control evil clouds has never made anything better. Ever. I guess at least they have some new boss to fight instead of sky whales, or maybe go to the beach. I put even odds on both.

  • This week’s Delusion Eu: Tange Sakura.

    Obligatory Youtube link for looping.

    Catgirl Eu… *dies from moe*

You could just tell that Dai-sensei was gonna be that kind of character. I hate her already. The fighting wasn’t bad, and Ayumu’s speech about life wasn’t even that forced! What is this madness?!

  • FlameStrike says:

Wow, that was a lot more intense than I thought it would be. With Ayumu going Chain Saw Massacre on Kyouko. Kyouko’s abuse of regenerative powers looked like it REALLY HURT too. Seriously. I know Ayumu does it too, but ughh.

  • john says:

i think this show is the best of the season compared to trash like beelzlebub and many others and man yuu is so cute lol be kinda sweet if ayumi and yuu got together zombie and master lol good episode all in all

Bleh. You are the only one who thought of that, as far as I’m concerned. Lame post title.

  • Anise_Punter says:

I seriously expected Eu’s power of words to be such that when she talked the Kugyu/banshee voice came out and everyone dropped to their knees in agony.

    • Nanaya says:

I think the subtlety is better. Her quietly muttering ‘die’ and having everything in a 10 foot radius drop is way… eerier?

  • Jack says:

I still think this show is going to go full Gainax-tard and end up killing every character after making them seem so cozy, friendly and harem-y.

    Hot spring episode.
    Festival episode.
    All dead.
    Reset.

Ayumus “I will chainsaw the evil out of you” was epic but “thanks for killing me” was weak
Kyouko is crazy and dumb Eu had GM powers in this fight she can warp realty when Kyouko found that out she sould have run and lvl (it would not work but it would not be so dumb) I dread the day of her inevitable return and think that she is made out of suck
