Maiden Demon Zakuro #06 — Not To Be Allowed Near Trees

November 8th, 2010

Zakuro’s weakness… wood.

Impressions:

Essentially a flashback episode and you know how I feel about flashbacks. Keep the bloody story in the present, damn it. Show what is happening, don’t invent new character traits or backstory which has heretofore been yet unseen. Have characters overcome hardships, don’t just sit back and narrate about some hardship they’ve already already overcome for the better part of twenty minutes. *ahem* That out of my system… yeah, nothing really happened this week. Bonbori and Hozuki gave their own generic foundling/humans are evil story to Ganryuu, who being Bishie Style #4, Shota Class, amazed them with his ability to make doe eyes and cry on command. You’re nothing more than their boytoy anyway, you twit.

Elsewhere in the storyless story of this week, the kids got a kite stuck in a tree which somehow ended with Zakuro’s tree-related PTSD kicking in. You’d think that she was Tsukimiya Ayu the way that she apparently can’t be trusted around anything tall and woody. Insert your own joke about Riken here. There were also a few more clues obviouses that her mother was more than just some human woman, if that wasn’t already clear from the forty thousand other pieces of foreshadowing… and her being in the OP. Then since they’re contractually obligated to have one Kei/Zakuro relationship moment per episode, let’s toss in Zakuro’s mother’s pendant. Okay, that’s a wrap. Let’s hit the bishie bars.

Preview:

Kei wears his pirate shirt. Also, a cat.

Wood is hard and has splinters.

I could excuse Aroduc as he/she mocks any anime out there beside it being real crap or a masterpiece, but what do you people in general have against this show? Everybody judged it bad, but i can’t see any real flaw in it. Ok, it’s not a masterpiece in originality, but who cares since it’s already nice enough?
