The Legend of the Legendary Heroes #11 — Durrrrrrrrr Evil!

September 9th, 2010

Yes, God does hate us, Lyner.

I should just rename Thursdays to "The Wasted Potential Power Hour."

Impressions:

You know, Nameless Generic Magic Knight #4 has some moves. He went toe to toe with Lyner and talked smack in the process. Nameless Generic Magic Knight #4 may be the most menacing antagonist this show has had to date. I’m still waiting on a good reason why Alpha Stigma are evil. I hoped this week would show it, but no. It was yet another case of "soldiers murdering people for no reason makes mages go berserk." Perhaps it would be a good idea to not rape and pillage everything if you want to curb outbreaks of magical death, eh? It may have been slightly worse than usual since the scene of the kid’s father crawling towards him was so drawn out and the ending obvious that it was physically painful to watch. At least it let me empathize with Lyner’s "Why does God hate us?" speech at the end, even if it was for all the wrong reasons.

And the first third or so was the usual "nothing’s going on in Roland, but let us posture and pontificate over it." Miran is seriously the only even vaguely interesting character in the entire fifty mile radius around Sion, and that’s only because there’s a good chance he’ll kill some or all of the others. Roland either needs to be eaten by a dragon or given a point. We’re nearly halfway through the series, and Sion is still bumming around doing the same crap he was doing in episode 1, seemingly having made no progress whatsoever. At least the action was sort of decent this week. Unlike most of the rest of the episode, it did not give me heartburn. That has got to count for something.

Preview:

Miran gets a boyfriend with matching power ring.

Still… I like this anime more than most of the shows of this season :S

I know things could be worst… That’s probably why xD

  • Silentbrick says:

Well, it’d be nice if Lyner stole the unapologetic part of Akuto Sai’s soul, the one that maiming everyone in his way with no angst, and then went on a real rampage and oh, say removed an entire country out of Sion’s way by killing everyone. Then maybe he’d get the fear and horror he thinks he deserves.

Come on, if he’s going to call himself a monster, they should make him a real monster. On the monster scale, he’s currently below the level needed to lick Darth Vader’s boots.

    • Ransom says:

      @Silentbrick

The whole point here seems to be to actually deny the premise that he is a monster. So of course they can’t make him do something like that.

  • Mesousa says:

    Herp a derp a derp.

  • Eveonder says:

What can I say… man… the light novel was so much better… and do they really have to show Sion bumming around? I mean it seems like a waste of time… I know they’re trying to establish that Sion is a good person for future stuff… but I think they’re overdoing it with all the Sion angst…

lol… the only reason Lyner isn’t a monster yet is cuz he has the awesome Lelouch voice gunning for him >_> lol.

hm..i wonder if even really going to touch what the king is trying to do..really touch..then have main guy be on the run from him
