The Blessing of La Campanella #03 — The Squirrel of Caerbannog
July 16th, 2010
I think Leicester got more Exp from Carina mounting him than he did from vanquishing the squirrel.
Impressions:
Not as good as last week’s, but not as annoying as the first episode either. The major issue with the episode was the lack of Shelley and Garnet the flow and story. A strong directed plot has never really been this show’s strength, but the last couple episodes at least flowed logically from one scene to the next. This one… had a few more difficulties staying focused. They finished their quest about two thirds of the way through the episode and then had to resort to a montage of Carina looking constipated to fill up the lion’s share of the remaining five minutes. The fanservice and weekly humping remaines as shoehorned in as ever and completely extraneous to any other part of the show, so the less said there, the better. At least Nick was enjoying the show.
Back to focus though. This started out as a quest to pull some rainbow flowers out of a giant black censorship blob, and ended up with Mozzarella turning Carina’s staff into an intelligent device that blurts out her feelings. Along the way, Carina got jealous over Agnes and Limburger being together, Chelsea went off into her own little "get’s lost easily" joke, and Camembert fought a vorpal squirrel. This was really more of a set of almost completely random bits strung together. That almost would have worked better too instead of trying to pretend like it was all related. At least the Frito Lays sisters stole their scene as usual. They really need their own episode already. I don’t care how early in the show it is.
