The Blessing of La Campanella #02 — D.C.D

Darkness what now?

Impressions:

While the ritalin suppository did both good and harm to Legend2, it had nothing but good effects on the second episode of Campanella. Almost every part of this was so much easier and less ear piercingly difficult to watch than the first episode. Almost every. I could have done without the closeups of heaving breasts and Carina humping Leicester’s leg. I’ll give the swimsuit festival at the end a pass though, mostly because they all actually have pretty good choices for bathing suits… or maybe it’s just because all of them except Agnes were in sarongs. It is quite overwhelming that they’re still tossing in new characters left and right. Outside of Minette, the automata, we also got Gorgonzola’s father, Carina’s father, random spirit/dragon/genie out of nowhere, and some guy who brings an axe to a beach. Hopefully they’re just getting it all out of their system. Plus, Garnet’s goddess-speak is about the only one of the multitudes of strange Japanese speech patterns that I actually find adorable.

The fight was about as expected. It wa never really serious, but considering that Romano is carrying a rifle that shoots balls out of its scope, that’s to be expected. The dragon was defeated by Minette’s magical glowing befriending glow of glowiness, at which point it turned into a pokeball carbuncle to be used later, or eaten, or made into a decorative friendship bracelet. I’m not really sure of the details. There was all sorts of generic fantasy nonsense about her power and Ale and Anima Perila or something. I completely tuned out when that started and just listened to the delightful little warewas. Once you’ve heard one bit about mana, you’ve heard them all.

I’m probably going to stick with it. Besides, it seems like the undeserved whipping boy for the season, and like Polyphonica and Juuden, that makes me want to cover it out of sheer spite for the pack. Regardless, this was a relaxing and fun little episode that fixed most of the problems I had with the first one. It’s definitely not a high impact show, but as far as a way to spend 30 minutes on a Friday, it’s quite nice.

Super late edit, but I have no idea what was up with the oddly detailed oranges. Somebody had either entirely too much time to sit around and draw oranges or they got their photo filters confused.

You forgive to watch Amagami SS because it’s a Kimikiss Pure Rouge spin-off.

  • Aorii says:

What are the chances of “mana transfer” from this one I wonder xD

Undeserved whipping boy sounds about right for how Campanella is treated. People are taking it with far too much seriousness.

    • Aex says:

Anyone who takes this show too seriously has never seen a single minute of it. That is all.

    • Anonymous says:

Minette is apparently the first girl you… ahem, “get” in the games. Then Carina, and then mom, or so a friend says.

  • redlupine says:

I want to point out that the excessive ^_^ faces in the opening song really annoyed me.

  • Solaris says:

No way it’s impossible! Did i read a POSITIVE impression from Aroduc? No jokes? No subtle irony at all?? it must be cause my lacking english understanding…!

  • Honoo says:

… I’m sensing that people are not even giving this show a look because it smells like the so-called “moeshit” which has too much sugar that can trigger diabetes just by looking at it in the Summer series list. And it also seems that those who doesn’t like it are lard-consuming watchers who can’t risk taking in more sugar if they still want to live.

… Just kidding. But please tell me that nobody had that evil thought running in their minds.

Jokes aside, I pretty much enjoy the first show so far, and seeing a nice review for the second episode just made me more interested in it.

… And excuse me for walls of text.

  • Aex says:

Well it’s official, I love this series. Second episode was still great, the entire harem is awesome, and Leicester is a good male lead. Plus there are hott dragons. That by itself wins. With a beach right outside the clan house I hope they don’t go overboard on the swimsuit scenes, but it was still cute and funny to see the girls line up looking for praise from Leicester.

I suspect that the theme of “Love Will Save All” is gonna give me a permanent sugar-rush, but I think I can deal with at.

  • Anise Punter says:

If the third episode continues like this, I’m sold. If they try to add a plot to it, I think it’ll just end up a trainwreck.

  • Hagane says:

Did anyone else noticed that that Garnet girls isn’t wearing panties?
