A Certain Mess of Side Characters #19 — Electric Boogaloo

February 12th, 2010

I choose to substitute my own reality.

Impressions:

What an expectedly great episode. There was action, surprise plot, the works. Sure, the exposition about the Tree diagram went a little long and I’m not sure that we really needed Accelerator retconned into more of a good guy by having Misaka provoke him, but eh, I guess it makes his face turn a little more believable, so I’m not going to complain that much. Misaka #Whatever also did a pretty good job of holding her own with a couple tricks that may have well worked against Accelerator, creating the oxygen deprivation cyclone/flame trap and the magnetized dust storm to putz with his vectoring. They probably could have thought at least the former through a little better though. Forget redirecting the physics lesson about the amount of oxygen one exhales and cycling that, he could have just held his breath. The damn thing lasted all of 30 seconds. It took her longer to explain what she was about to do than to actually do it.

The other big thing of note was Judgment/Kuroko and Uihara stumbling onto the whole Misaka/Sisters experiment through Misaka #Whosit’s corpse before the other Misakas whisked it off. Well, Saten too I guess, but nobody cares about her. What’s she going to do anyway? She would probably end up accidentally killing Index’s cat by drugging it up on Level Upper. They could have certainly done Kuroko’s whole reaction and realization that it wasn’t Mikoto a little better, but at least they played it straight instead of resorting to a lesbian joke or panty check, even if it was still a little unintentionally creepy to get the naked side by side of corpse/Mikoto musculature. But regardless, they certainly could have done that far worse, so c’est la vie.

That’s how I choose to remember this episode and I do not care to hear otherwise. Good day.

God damn you and your sarcasm. I walked right into it again! But seriously, I stopped watching after the end of the Level upper arc, and you know what? I have absolutely no desire to watch this show anymore.

Keep up with the great episode recaps. I think Accelerator will do fine until Goku summons the spirit bomb. After that, who knows what’ll happen

    • Albedo says:

      Spoiler: Goku wins

    • Albedo says:

I’ll have to watch this episode to see what touma says.

On a side note… You had me going with the review for a second. However as soon as you said, “they played it straight instead of resorting to a lesbian joke or panty check” I knew it wasn’t A Certain Railgun.

  • chad001 says:

    Huzzah, Touma appears!

  • Pablo-kun says:

But Aroduc, It was a great episode. We learned that Touma has already lost his memory by now and Misaka played the ED in Violin.

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM IT?

  • Yue says:

Aroduc’s ability is called: Episode Metamorphos…

Whenever the victim reads this blog, it causes a (50*SkLvL/10)% chance to leave a comment and a 3% chance to drop the series altogether reduced by the victim’s (Int*no. of lolis) the show has. ^^

  • Anise Punter says:

Well, it appealed to those of us who can’t turn down a maid episode.

  • Lero says:

mmmm…. Touma was askingfor Index who was missing in the place.

  • TJ says:

    First comes denial…

    …and eventually acceptance.

    • Nanaya says:

Not necessarily — it’s more likely for the entire series to be forgotten instead of accepted, and instantly denied again whenever remembered until it’s forgotten again. On that note, it would be bloody awesome if they ever made a Tsukihime anime.

  • Lero says:

HAHAHA! Looks like the blog had become very funny to read, g.j.!

  • nikolai131 says:

I am getting tired of those episodes >.< I want to see some plot here … And no more fillers …………..

  • Albedo says:

I can only hope that this ends up like the matrix reloaded. Crap everyone pretends didn’t happen.

  • sage says:

What are you talking about? This was an excellent episode. I mean, it had Touma after all! And Mikoto was stunning.

    lolpun

Oh man, was that Kakine watching the Accelerator/Misaka/Mugino threeway fight at the end of the preview? Next week is going to be awesome!

The best part about this is that I got a whole lot of Uiharu reaction face images.
