Transform and roll out!

Impressions:

Mostly a very fun episode full of Minatsu’s generlized rambling about super sentai and such, but the drama was painfully bad. The Shiinas reveal that they’re transferring schools, then all of 8 minutes later, Minatsu decides that she’d much rather stay here after all. Did anybody really think that they’d drop two of the main characters from the show six episodes in? Seriously. Who are we kidding here? This is the kind of bad hamhanded drama that shows like this machinate for the end of the penultimate episode just to add some sense of finality, not that I’m looking in your direction at all, Minami-ke. I almost wish that they had spread it out a little further over a few episodes with this school festival thing just to make it less dumb, but on the other hand, at least it’s behind us now.

In any case, I particularly loved Ken’s various suggestions for what ‘color’ he should be in the super squad… using a very loose definition of color. Solid Snake’s stealth suit apparently applies, as does Zebra, Rainbow, and Skeletal. I don’t know Ken, I think being a Rainbow Ranger would not quite be the image you’re looking for. It was also interesting to see somebody actually engage Chizuru on her Machiavellian manipulation level. Magiru also likes to just screw around with all of them for kicks, which is always fun. And yes, Minatsu’s stepmom’s pig-meatballs are very cute.

Brief Summary:

School festival’s coming up, and the group argues about various things to do for it. Mafuyu wants some kind of bizarre RPG contest and Minatsu wants a brawl. Magiru stops by to stir up the pot a little bit, but the Shiinas spoil everybody’s mood by telling them that they’re transferring to a new school. The following day, they end up waist deep in Minatsu’s sentai ramblings because Sakurano decides that the council’s theme for the school fest will be Minatsu’s brawl theme and they’ll be the School Rangers. Eventually, Minatsu gets ticked and runs out. Mafuyu explains the whole situation. Problems with their parents, new stepmom who’s slowly won Minatsu over with boxed lunches, etc.

Up on the roof, Ken promises Minatsu that he’ll get a parttime job so that he can visit them every week because they’re still part of his harem. The next day, Minatsu reveals that they’re not imminently transferring after all and we get a little flashback to Minatsu telling her family how much she likes being here.
