Asura Cryin’ #08 — Two And a Half Devils
May 21st, 2009
Tomo’s house became a bad sitcom setup awfully fast.
Impressions:
Well, not too bad of a setup episode, but that’s all it was, and I really don’t like this new character at all. The obligatory loli, Nia, falls into just about every bad loli stereotype. She’s uppity, spoiled, a genius, and has enough ribbons in her hair to clothe a small African tribe. She’s unceremoniously dumped into Tomo’s house in one of the more contrived developments in this show and spends most of the rest of the episode whining. Her power isn’t even particularly interesting or useful either. She can change people’s luck, typically giving them bad luck by gnawing on them. I’m pretty sure it’s just an excuse for a kiss scene with magical sparklies in an episode or two, although I don’t even want to know how many different people she stuck in her mouth this episode alone. She also droned on about the Burial Dolls, Stabilizer, and Projections for a little while, but my attention had completely checked out by that point.
Very little else of interest happened this episode either. Another of the devils is rampaging around with enough power to take on two Asura Machines (and is most likely Nia’s sister), and Takatsuki is also dumped into Tomo’s house, but even with a Takatsuki/Nia skinship bath scene, I think Misao is still the most fanservice friendly of Tomo’s live-in haremettes. At any rate, hopefully with the ‘big’ cliffhanger of Asura Machines and devils all over the freakin’ place, we’ll get back to things exploding next week. Or at the very least, less whiny bratty bitey loli.

I just hope that the new akuma girl doesn’t end up living with tomo, that would be really really lame.
