Yozakura Quartet #10 — Lazy Monster Design 101

December 5th, 2008

"Make it big, textureless, and add some fangs."

Impressions:

Meh, whatever. Blah blah blah abandon city, Hime pissed at Akina, Yuuhi shows up to grope his secretary lay the smack down on the elders, everybody fights giant white… things and then we’ll get to fight them some more next episode. Oh boy! I’m glad Kyosuke kept kicking ass this episode, as opposed to Hime being completely worthless, but really… very little happened this episode and it did it very very slowly. The fight against the gao monsters wasn’t even particularly interesting either. I’m not even certain why they were hurt by Hime swatting at them. There were no impacts or cuts. Just a little stick thwapping at a 40 foot tall gooblob.

Oh well, Kyosuke vs Shinozuka next week at least.

Preview:

Yes, this makes a ton of sense.

All the monsters in this series were lazily designed, but these giant blobs really take the cake lol. Looks like there will be even more or these colour-less giant blobs in the next episode as well

The more this series goes on, the more useless the main characters seem to become. Looks like letting a group of teens run a town wasn’t such a great idea after all.

  • Hinano says:

Well I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s kinda getting bored of the “action” in the series. The monster sorta gave me flashbacks to Mushiuta but Mushiuta seemed a lot more awesome for some reason, maybe because it had a lot more consistent animation…

Does anyone else find the DADADADADADADA really fucking annoying?

  • Hinano says:

    *raises hand*

  • Aroduc says:

Yeah, I could do without it too.

  • anymore says:

well it’s been confirmed that Hime chooses Gin, all that is left is for Akina to bring Gin back from the clutches of enjin, and in the process go with Enjin to the other side, saving the town in the process.
Basically win for everyone but Akina, which makes me lol.

The monsters made me think that they should call ghost busters lol. Too bad you couldn’t burn it with fire =(.

  • Jarmel says:

The more the series goes on the worst this gets. Are they really trying?

  • Anonymus says:

They changed the story… comepared to the anime the manga seem more interesting, the monster are actually identic with the manga and I am okay with the design.
I think again it never hinted that Hime like Gin in the manga more than Akina. The scarf she received was from Akina alone too, without Gin. But one thing… Akina seem not to have any romantic feelings for anynone in the manga too. Well Charlie and his three angels… ah and Bosly…
