Fantasy of The Four Swords – Tenshi’s Great Counterattack Promo

December 8th, 2008

Yeah yeah, I’ve been slacking lately on doujin stuff. Blame Vesperia and Last Remnant. I’m sure the title is a reference to some Japanese story or literature that I’m just not getting, but whatever. This one looks like a very basic SRPG, borrowing some things from the N-1 series (chain attacks and such). The graphics could definitely use some polishing, and the zooming in and out was making me a bit seasick after only the brief promo, but hopefully it’ll look a little more polished by the time they put it out… or at the very least… add depth. At least they seem determined to cram the entire current era cast in there.
Brought to my attention via Doujinsuki.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

Vesperia, a game I may never play unless it gets ported.
How do you like it so far? Better than Abyss?

  • Aroduc says:

I have mixed feelings. It’s nice to have a Tales game without some kind of egregiously godawful technical problems, but so far (and I’m still pretty early), it just seems rather mundane. Everybody’s pretty much just out for a walk around the world because they have little else to do with themselves. Yuri is also slow as hell compared to basically every single other Tales lead except maybe Stahn, which is slightly infuriating. The battlefield is also massive compared to Symphonia and Abyss’, which leads to a lot of stuff happened far off screen, completely out of eyesight, which annoys me as well. So does the removal of a lot of the AI control options re:OLs.

Overall though, it’s still a solid Tales game thus far, and I’ve still got party members to recruit, so I’m not -that- far into it, but it’s just not doing a particularly good job of enthralling me.

  • Shiro Long Tail says:

Off screen action was one of the annoying things about playing Symphonia with 4 people, since the camera only followed Player 1.

I’m currently playing through Radiant Mythology and while I enjoyed the initial Fanservice fest it’s rapidly degraded into a terrible, terrible grinding game with fetch quests aplenty. Hopefully the sequel will cutback on the monotony a bit and make it more challenging. Also,
they added in Cless which is always a plus.
