Throw yourself off it, Touma. Or better yet, the cat.

Impressions:

An alright episode I suppose, but it felt rather underwhelming all around. The 3 minutes of Komoe talking about chocolate at the start had absolutely no place anywhere here and were pretty blatant time filler, so it didn’t really get off on the right foot from the start. The remainder of the episode took place on Mikoto’s angsting bridge, and I got the distinct feeling that they were either running out of camera angles to pan over or in total budget shutdown mode from the number of reused shots and pans. It didn’t feel really feel too low budget overall, but when I started to think about the number of times they showed that same shot of the stupid cat getting spooked by the electricity… and looking through the screencaps MPlayer too, well… Other people seem to be taking exception to the insert song during Mikoto’s flashback, but it didn’t really strike me one way or the other. I was probably still disgusted from the dinner filler.

Really though, almost nothing actually happened this episode. Mikoto and Touma spent most of it just yelling at each other and recapping everything we learned last episode until Touma tried to pull the "I won’t fight you, so you’ll have to zap me" routine whereupon Mikoto spent about five minutes alternately zapping him and looking amazed when he got up after being zapped. Shouldn’t the body encompassing shot have been at least partially cancelled when it hit his right hand anyway? Also, the cat should be welded to the pavement by the giant plasma storm she let loose at the end. I was hoping she’d zap Touma again at the end while holding the cat with hilarious consequences. It’s also pretty painful to hear them try to pronounce Accelerator Axelator.

Oh well, maybe we’ll get back to the murder and mayhem next week. This episode really just felt like it could have been condensed down to about 5 minutes with very little loss of pertinent information. Hell, I’m not even sure what pertinent information we did gain. That Mikoto wants to be saved?
