Comiket 73: eXceed 2nd -VAMPIRE REX-

January 4th, 2008

Just like the original eXceed 2nd, this is a perfectly suitable Ikaruga clone. It’s not going to win too many awards for creativity as almost all of the bullet patterns are just variations on covering the screen with the two colors and forcing you to just pick which one to dodge and then absorb the others, which is generally not too difficult, aside from the unnaturally gigantic hit box. I think I’m just used to precision flying. If you liked eXceed 2nd or Ikaruga, you should snag this one. Otherwise, eh — it’s not a bad game by any stretch, but aside from its gimmick, it’s really not that impressive either.

Comiket 73: Rosenkreuz Stilette

January 4th, 2008

Sorry, my computer can’t handle recording this one either. That’s actually a video of the C72 trial stages using the bonus character, who plays more like Megaman X’s Zero than the Megaman witch. Suffice it to say, it’s everything that I hoped it’d be. The Schwer-Muta stage is especially hilarious and great. It really seems like something straight out of Owata Man, complete with Fliptop Eddie who spews out a a poisonous energy tank. It’s not as ludicrously difficult as Megamari, but it’s certainly close. I’m sure once I figure out the weapon flow between bosses, it’ll become far more managable. Personally, I recommend starting out with Liebea — she’s a snap with the default buster. If you love Megaman, there is absolutely no reason that you shouldn’t get ahold of this and never let go.
