Mission failed.

Impressions:

My hatred of Mayu really grows with every episode. She’s such a self-centered, whiny, useless little brat. Okay, you found your man kissing another girl. Never mind that he’s not moving, barely speaking, and not at all functional; all you can worry about are your feelings. At least Reika went to check on him and realized that there was something very very wrong with the guy. Mayu just stood there blathering “my… my…” Can you miss what’s going on here any more, you worthless tramp? You’re not even good for fanservice these days. I am a bit more interested in Tasuku after he gasped when seeing Irori kiss Ninomiya, but for all I know, that was just a production mistake after they got carried away showing reaction shots. Maybe there’s division in the siblings of Okushiro.

I guess I’m pleased with this episode, especially after the terribleness of last week. I especially enjoyed the (admittedly half-assed) Metal Gear Solid joke. I was all set to mock it, but then they actually had Snake in the box. The fact that there are succubi jutting out of every nook and cranny in this show is getting a bit tiresome, but strangely (especially for a series like this), the plot seems to still be moving forward. They haven’t even had a Shinobu episode yet either. Maybe since she’s not out to bang Ninomiya, she doesn’t deserve anything. That’d be a damn shame though, since Reika’s entourage somehow manage to be the most interesting characters in the show.

Shinobu cleans up the mansion and does various chores. Reika comes home to the mansion being bright and sparkling. She thanks Shinobu, but sees Mayu wandering off with Ninomiya and chases them. Shinobu gets pissed that her work was underappreciated and attacks Ninomiya.

In a ‘far off land’ Ninomiya’s class enjoys their school trip. Mayu and Hinako continue sightseeing around together.

The males of the class have their own plans and are harassing the girls while Ninomiya tries to protect them. He goes to the teacher, who is napping on the bus, and pleads with her to establish some order, but she just rolls over and goes back to sleep.

Despondant, Ninomiya wanders off until Irori pops up and clings to him. Mayu watches the two flirt from a distance. Tasuku appears behind her and offers to be her date for tomorrow. Ninomiya hears them and looks over at Tasuku with a scowl. Irori pulls his attention back to her and drags him off. She looks back at Mayu as they leave and grins.

Reika is also spying on them along with Hosaka and Shinobu. She’s livid about Irori, despite Hosaka trying to talk her down. They’ve already been punishing those not following Miss Manner’s Rules of Etiquette. Reika does calm down a bit though. Irori isn’t nearly the threat to her standards of good conduct that Mayu is.

At the inn, Ninomiya bumps into Mayu. She’s en route to the bath with Hinako. She tries to get up the courage to ask him out tomorrow, while he tries to ask her about Tasuku. The two speak at once, and then try to get the other to talk first… until the males from class grab Ninomiya and carry him off all tied up.

In the girl’s bath, Hinako gropes Mayu something fierce and then steals her towel. All the other girls watch, amused.

A scream can be heard in the distance as a guy falls into the guy’s bath and unconscious. Apparently the male’s bath is down a mountainside from the female’s and they’ve been falling off the sheer cliff.

The two remaining guys break out the mountaineering gear and head up. Ninomiya gives chase in the name of modesty, but there’s a rumbling and a remote control helicopter appears. It opens fire on them and they flee upwards. From above, rocks start to fall on them. Ninomiya’s friends start leaping from rock to rock, making their way upwards… but then lose their grips and fall into the bath below. Ninomiya decides that it’s safer to head upwards and off to the side so as not to intrude on the girls.

Unfortunately… the side is where Reika has decided to stretch for a moment and Ninomiya comes out of the bushes to gaze upon her in her full glory.

Hosaka, the only male unharmed through all this, rests idly in a massage chair inside.

Flashback time again. A kid is dirty and on his hands and knees. Ninomiya is nearby, but a long haired girl drags him away from helping him. The kid looks around, and sees a girl in a kimono standing nearby. The kid flinches in pain.

Tasuku opens his eyes and looks out over the landscape.

The girls gossip with the lights out. Hinako tries to goad Mayu into doing something with Ninomiya, but Mayu’s no fun at all. She retreats under her blanket and doesn’t notice Irori leave the room with a grin.

In the hallways of the inn, a cardboard box moves forward. Solid Snake here radios to the rest that the coast is clear. The box is lifted off him by the teacher and he’s pulled away. All over the inn, guys are being caught by teacher or trap for trying to sneak around.

The guys actually have an HQ where they observe all this and can’t imagine that the security is so tight.

Reika, Hosaka and Shinobu pass their time in the arcade playing Space Invaders while they wait for the right time for Reika to make her move.

The guys start to panic that time is running out. Ninomiya, ever the wet blanket, thinks things are going fine. He gets a call from Tasuku, telling him that he’s going after Mayu and races off. The guys watch in awe as Tasuku speedily evades the guards and traps.

The leaders declare their final operation. They will make an all out charge, and maybe Ninomiya will be able to slip through in the confusion. He’s absolutely speechless at their offer of help.

A janitor pushes a full cart along the hallway. The teacher realizes it’s a fake and gives chase. She pulls the top sheet off the cart and reveals the guy underneath. They run off again… letting Ninomiya step out from underneath. He runs off, using his own stealth skills to evade pursuit and make his way towards Mayu.

At the holding cell, everybody is caught. They’re worried about Ninomiya, but have to admit that everything’s more interesting with him around. The teacher overhears them and is forced to agree.

Ninomiya checks his map on the stairway. He hears Tasuku’s voice above him. Tasuku tells him that heaven’s wrath is upon him and a bunch of girls in a trance surround Ninomiya and grab him. Tasuku yells at Ninomiya for forgetting what he did to him, but Ninomiya (as expected) has no clue. Tasuku shrugs it off and flips a switch.

Power goes out all over the inn. The girls think that they’re being told it’s light’s out and tuck themselves in.

Ninomiya shrugs off the girls and leaps up the stairway, but Tasuku jumps away and then disappears. Arms grab Ninomiya from behind. He turns around and Irori kisses him. Ninomiya jolts in surprise.

Reika and her entourage search for the cause of the power outage. Mayu blindly gropes through the darkness.

Irori and Ninomiya’s kiss continues. He slowly begins to lose consciousness and remembers back to the feeling of kissing the girl in his past. He flails and accidently trips the light switch. Everybody, Reika, Mayu, and Tasuku, see Irori kissing him and are shocked. Irori pushes against him, thanks him for the meal and then walks away.

Ninomiya stands stunned for a moment and then collapses, lifeless. Reika runs up to him, but he’s barely responsive. Mayu just stands, completely stunned as tears pour from her eyes.
