A Certain Magical Index 3 #03 — Rock Paper Scissors

October 19th, 2018

Extended Exposition beats My Patience.

If you're interested in such things, Eushully's upcoming RPG finally posted its trial. There's actually like three releases coming in November I've got my eyes on.

Impressions:

I'm really praying that something else today isn't miserable, because this episode was. They spent goddamned near five minutes across this episode explaining the guy's power, which amounts to "Everything is rock paper scissors, and I get to change the rules on the fly." Touma didn't even use that against him to win, like trick him into making something strong right before surprise-clocking him with it. No. He 'figured out' that the power itself can only be used to inflict grievous bodily harm and massive injury, but not actually kill kill. Okay, stop. First, that's imbecilic. Second, so you bring a knife. Or a gun. Or pick up a length of pipe and use that. Third, you realize that 'knowing' that didn't change jack squat, right? No? Knowing that automatically gives him the win? Well, okay then.

Much of the rest of the episode was no better and featured much of the same. My 'favorite' part was Tsuchi popping in to declare "Ha HA! I've got you right where I want you,"… twice, and then proceeding to do absolutely nothing before getting distracted by some robots. Their weakness? Being told that they have a weakness. Which is so crippling to their self-esteem I guess that they immediately shut down. And then there's the entire last third or so of the episode where we leave everybody and everything in progress behind to go conspiracy it up with a bunch of random other dudes. They then realize that it's been way too long without a naked teenager, so manage to cram one in. Great work, team. It's past time for this series to greet that long good night.

I really hate the sound they’re using for Touma’s hand power this season.

Also, haha, joke’s on you, after this we’re getting a season three of Railgun, and an Accelerator spin-off.

Also also, this guy’s power is as stupid as he is ugly.
