Muromi #02 — Levia-san

April 13th, 2013

It’s ‘funny’ because ‘th’ and ‘s’ in Japanese are… sigh…

Impressions:

Unfortunately weaker than the first episode. The visuals kept up at least. I sometimes have to go back and add caps after I do a quick passover and grab things when a show has an excessive number of long pans and crap like that. No such problem at all here, even with it being half the length. However, the whole cell phone/texting thing at the start was pretty weak. I wasn’t really feeling a lot of the leviathan jokes much either. Excessive violence and not-quite-delusions of casual mass destruction are usually about my version of jangling keys, but the delivery with her was I think a little too far understated for the most part. They sort of got there in one scene where they went full-on murder-eyes, but most of the time she was just a little too similar to Muromi herself except on tranqs, which basically killed the quick delivery and fast pace of the humor.

Next Episode:

Dolphins.

    Burn my cosmos. Or not.

why… why was the god warrior in this episode? I am so confused.

  • Gorilla13 says:

Spiritual successor to Seto no Hanayome, except the MC is far from reaching NaGARsumi’s level.

saw it coming a mile away
    flippin romance
    dropped. Same for Lesviathan.

People keep comparing this to Seto, but I think Seto was a mish-mash of too many elements that made no sense together. Granted, Muromi is equally if not more random, but I love how they are sticking to the mermaid theme faithfully.
