Muromi #01 — Delicious Shiny Fishing Lures
April 6th, 2013
Never cross a seagull.
Impressions:
This is one of those 12 minute shows (paired with Azazel), but I figure with Saturday so far not impressing me at all (already watched Titan, just waiting for a cappable source, short version: PVs were a damnable lie) otherwise, may as well cover my bases. Of course, I wouldn’t have mentioned this at all had it not at least done something right.
It’s actually not bad at all though, especially as a high energy gag comedy. Or maybe Titan just put me in a mood for something at least intetionally comedic. Or maybe I was still partially deafened from it. Either way, it’s a comedy, and I laughed multiple times. It’s expressive and energetic in both the visuals and the dialogue, snappy, good variety of jokes and delivery, etc. It is fairly reminiscient to Squid Girl in a lot of ways, but with more gags in its repertoire and a willingness to actually run through them at the pace of more than one a minute. Hopefully it doesn’t start repeating them. It is way too shouty as much Japanese humor tends to be, but it’s used well here as part of the actual character traits instead of simply being red flags as to where the punchlines are. The whole thing is also pretty out of control anyway, and next week looks to be even moreso.
Next Episode:
Samurai, titans, and baseball.
