Zombie’ssu #17 — “How Can We Waste Another Episode?”

April 25th, 2012

"I know, an entire episode about a maid cafe."

Impressions:

And in this week of "Is This Still Filler?", we have Orito dragging Ayumu to a maid cafe where the entire female cast happens to be working where they have a "Tsun-off." God, I wish I was joking. I can already hear the haunting cries echoing through the blog-o-sphere. "I recognize that word! It’s an otaku thing! Deen totally connects with us. We are so totally anime!" All it did was basically just go through every single character’s catchphrase/gimmick in turn. And this is after the first half of the episode which was an utter waste. Hell, the first three minutes or so are teaching Sera about Gundam figures.

So nothing of value this week either. Not even a shred of Miss Drunky or Kyouko. Just recycling every single female cliche that the show has already been pounding into the ground through this season in one ten minute segment. Some of the commentary during the Tsun-off was okay but since the entire cast has been moist in the panties for Ayumu due to his protagonist power ever since about 3 seconds after each one’s individual introduction, half of this stuff wasn’t even jokes, just doing the same crap it’s done from the start… only with a ringing bell and explaining the cliche and how terrible it is. I’m not sure that’s the tack you want to be taking right now, Deen.

Preview:

More filler.

Wow, are these guys even trying anymore. For gods’ sake, by this time last season you actually had a legitimate psychopath running around. DO SOMETHING ALREADY!

“I recognize that word! It’s an otaku thing! Deen totally connects with us. We are so totally anime!”

Does this actually happen? I’ve never actually seen this happen. Aren’t most anime sites just people bitching about how everything is moeshit and how it sucks that nobody makes East of Eden anymore or some other show that they liked but not enough to actually pay money for? That’s what I gather from the anime blogosphere.

That’s why I like it here, because everything sucks.

I feel the Nyarlkos are what this show should have been, had this show been done right.

    • Aroduc says:

Well, there’s that breed too. The pseudo-intellectuals who ooh and aah over every one of -those- before their attention wanes halfway through the season just to begin it anew next season. I’d think they’d have written up on this a long time ago, just leaving the ones who pre-emptively wet themselves every time the delusion Eu pops up.

      • Aroduc says:

And now that it’s subbed and the primary thing I see the English fanbase doing is going “OMG TSUNDERE MEIDOS SQUEEE”, I feel justified and pained.

  • EXM says:

The show’s suffering from a lack of antagonists.

    • Aroduc says:

At this point, I think last season’s antagonist who was begging for them to kill him or he’d attack innocent people would be a step up.

It’d at least give the show a little bit of purpose again which it has utterly and completely lost.

  • AGear2Ax says:

Hey Aroduc! What about the “two” new characters they introduced without explaining anything? I mean… In Ayumu’s house there’s a pet cat I don’t remember seen before o being adopted… And the new classmate that popped out of nowhere and that somehow fix the thing between Orito and Ayumu…

  • Wilfriback says:

I don’t what is doing Kodaka from Haganai here, but sure what is he doing is far better than anything he can do for his own series.

  • Longhaul says:

I wonder if the deaths of the delusion Yuu’s is supposed to mark the end of this lighthearted stretch.
