I have to admit, Sakura’s supers look a bit silly, and Kukuri doesn’t look like she belongs at all, but Kirara and Sarara both look significantly better than I was expecting. They certainly don’t look out of place spamming giant beams at any rate.
And of course Naga and her giant golem. While I don’t like Naga all that much, I’m glad she’s in, and I’m glad that she has a giant golem as a super. It’s just right.
Fly-Sysems posted a game shot of Fate (above) a week or two ago, but it really doesn’t look too impressive. They also finally formally confirmed the remaining three magical girls, Kukuri from the kid’s RPG spoof Mahoujin Guru Guru (actually revealed April 2nd), and Kirara/Sarara from the hentai game Magical Girl Kirara and Sarara. I’m not going to link it here, but I’m sure searching it (é”法少女ãららã¨ã•ã‚‰ã‚‰) can point you in the ‘right’ direction. No more blank silhouettes on the MBA page. Now all that’s left is seeing them (and super panty flasher Sakura) in action.
New demo movie update shows that Fly’s been tightening up the code and performance stuff pretty majorly. The camera seems a little more spastic, but everything is looking a lot more fluid and quicker paced than the demo from two months ago. Now we just need to see Fate and Sakura in action.
There was minor clamor for Starlight Breakers and Ragna Blades, so here’s a quick showcase of all the moves for the two characters. Nanoha’s supers are Starlight Breaker and Excelion Buster ACS Drive, Lina’s are Dragon Slave and Ragna Blade. They’re done by entering Overdrive (Special + Rush) then pressing Special + Rush + (Melee/Ranged Attack). The Melee ranged is the freefire one (Breaker/Slave) that charges for a long time then attacks, and the Ranged will shoot a small homing shot which follows up with the massive attack if it hits. I love the cartridge charges with Nanoha’s. And it’s a little tough to tell with Lina, but the ACS Drive is actually a scripted sequence where the enemy puts up a shield and then Nanoha explodes through it.
I was dimly aware that Magical Battle Arena existed, in much the same way that Canadian moose are dimly aware of Drew Barrymore. About a week ago though, they posted the first video of it in action. Fate, Nanoha and Sakura are fine and all, but Lina? She’s my gal already. Two characters remain unknown for it, though one is either of the elf-ear (Caster or Etna?) or big hat (Marisa?) variety. God only knows for the 6th character. She has hair. That’s all I’ll commit to. Looks good so far. Hopefully they’ll have a trial version by Winter Comiket.
Okay, so maybe this announcement is a month late, but they only actually put up the site… uh… a week ago. Shut up! *ahem* From the makers of Magical Battle Arena comes the oh so creatively titled Touhou Sky Arena, built on a refined version of the same engine but with at least half a dozen more bars and gauges. It’s like Reimu really is a jet now. Or something… Only Reimu and Marisa are confirmed so far, but it’s a safe bet that most of the cast from Touhou Sky Fight will be returning. The trial will be on sale at Winter Comiket this year.
