It figures that fewer than 24 hours would pass since I did my little preview before Aquastyle posts a long promo for their upcoming animated short… or whatever you want to call them. The Sanae x Master Spark combination attack was hilarious. Nice to see the newbies getting some pre-emptive love too. And yes, I know Iosys released something about a week ago. It was really really lame.
Tasofro just announced Touhou 12.3, including the three mentioned above. Given the name (SWR was Hisouten, soku means ‘near’, or a pun for ‘zoku’ meaning sequel), style, and that there was sort of a quasi-non-announcement about an SWR patch in the works, I’m going to assume it’s an expansion to SWR, moving the story up past UFO (out in a month, remember). It apparently adds, among other things, robots, and the story is something about fog in the middle of summer, not like it matters. Probably Suika getting too drunk to reincorporate. Really though, your guess is as good as mine right now.
No, I haven’t played it yet. Yes, I have a migraine at the moment so will not get around to it (or ZKC) until tomorrow. Losing an hour of sleep to DST probably won’t help my brain either. The mysterious UFOs in the lower right corner are the new scoring gimmick. You collect them, and spawn a UFO (type/what it does depends on colors collected), then they spawn a big UFO in the middle of the screen. When its life is reduced to zero, it explodes like a small bomb with a score multiplier attached to all the bullets it cancels. It also appears to be significantly less difficult than the last two iterations, at least on Normal. It’s always the Stage 4 boss that’s nasty as all get out though.
Demo due out March 8th. Full version in the summer. And lookit the return to separate power and bombs as well as a playable Sanae. God only knows what the UFO slots in the lower left are. Maybe it won’t be as painfully difficult as the last couple. Although after NUCLEAR CROW IN HELL, an alien/pirate invasion seems almost mundane.
Iosys’ latest collection of Touhou remixes… and the title should give you a bit of a clue as to what it’s centered on. Poor poor Cirno. Oh well, ⑨ probably deserves more or less whatever comes her way. This one is probably my favorite Iosys promo in awhile though.
Aquastyle released their latest/greatest SRW tribute DVD featuring Aya, Flandre, Remilia, and Suika. No Love Love Yuyuko attack in this one, sadly. I went ahead and cut out all of the ‘story’ junk (ha… story) from the start and end so all that’s left in that is various Touhou themed SRW attacks. If you’re interested in the first one, you can watch it here.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand, back to working on BMW 4 for me. Well, BBQs for the holiday weekend, but then back to working on it. There is a patch on the forum that incorporates the act 4 changes into the pre-existing translated parts, translates most relevant combat information, and updates the graphical files, but it’s still sort of an advanced beta since there are a few things that I’ve been totally unable to track down how or when they’re used. They could just be dummied out and this is the final version, but who knows. Werk is still releasing new bugfix patches about one every ten days, so… god only knows really.
Yes yes yes, I know about the nuclear loli, the girl that guards the gates of hell, cerberus-loli, love-power heart bullet extra boss, and of course, Sanae. As much as I’d love to play, it’s 1:00am and freaking 95 degrees here somehow, which means that I’m posting this and getting as far away from my heat belching laptop as possible. I’m sure someone will have completely run through the game on Lunatic and Extra by the time I wake up… hopefully not drenched in my own sweat.
A veritible mountain of balance fixes. I’d bother to list them all, but after listing a couple, Tasofro just makes a note "Other fixes were also done." Assume that your favorite character has been greatly changed. A lot of the more obvious and critical bug fixes have been dealt with too, like Tenshi’s space-background glitch and Sakuya’s instant win. Still, I can only imagine there will be another patch soon since the wrong-blocking knockback is still totally… well… wrong.
