Slayers REVOLUTION #05 — Oh God, Not Another Rezo

July 30th, 2008

Xellos, why was your episode so boring?

Impressions:

Well, apparently this was a budget saving episode, but it was about 20 minutes of talking heads setting up things for the future. Sure, they set up quite a bit… everything from a possible third incarnation of Rezo (oh boy! Infinite Clones!) to the villains for the series (who are jokes) to the possibility of an arranged marriage between Prince Pocotta and Princess Amelia. Maybe I’m making that last part up… maybe not. Who knows? It was pretty boring to watch overall, which was a shame because Xellos was around, though he really didn’t say or do much of anything even while he was in the party. He caught some of Zel’s thrown hair (where’d he pick that move up?), bent it, set it on fire, said "it’s a secret" then basically vanished (literally eventually) until the end of the episode.

I’m having a hard time taking these villains seriously, especially since it means that we’re going back to Wiser’s idiot kingdom. I had hoped we’d be free from him, but apparently it’s not meant to be. The most dangerous thing any of the three did was to fire a single shot over Lina’s head. I’m pretty sure Lina or Amelia could just drop them in a hole and that’d be the end of the fight. Magic armor doesn’t work against holes. Having Xellos on their side will probably keep them from being defeated immediately, but if there’s anybody who really thinks that Xellos isn’t going to eventually betray him for whatever crazy goal he has this time, I’ll just going ahead and call you a crazy twit right now.

Brief Summary:

While chasing Pocotta around, the party stumbles upon Xellos, who grabs the little creature. They’ve stumbled into somewhere they shouldn’t be… a completely ruined city which turns out to be Pocotta’s hometown. As it turns out, it was sealed away when a plague ran through it, and people were supposed to be revived when the cure was found. A cure had been found, but the only person that could release the seal was the person who made it… the red priest Rezo. Though… the seal should have been released when Rezo died. Xellos teleports away when Lina et all confront him over this.

There’s an explosion from one of the buildings, and when they investigate, the intruder reveals that Pocotta is a prince (Pocotta is short for some crazy long overblown name). The intruder is a tigerman named Duclis, one of Pocotta’s former acquaintances (and the one who stole the tanks), and with him are two women Pocotta doesn’t know, Jocanda (a noble from Wiser’s kingdom) and her maid Ozel.

Pocotta tries to attack, but Duclis is wearing armor that blocks magic. After being forced outside by Pocotta’s wide area spell decimating the building, He brings out the replica Sword of Light, but Duclis easily dodges and Jocanda draws her sword to finish him. He leaps away to attack Duclis again when he sees that the Sword cracked the armor, but Xellos catches him and admits that he’s working with Jocanda for now… but refuses to obey her orders to kill the others before teleporting them all away.

Back at the castle, the bad guys ponder what to do about Lina’s group. Xellos has a plan involving the Claire Bible. Oh boy… that again.

So I hope at some point Memphis shows up to gut furball and take her armor back.

WOOOO! I just love Xellos, especially when he gets serious enough to show his eyes. He’s like ‘I’m on your side for now, just don’t piss me off, by talking about killing Lina-san.”

Another note, where DID Zel-kun pick up that move?
