IkkiTousen – Great Guardians #07 — RYOFUUUUUUUUUUU!

July 24th, 2008

It’s good to have you back, you crazy, evil, manipulative hussy.

Impressions:

First off, let me point out how right I was about everything? How right was I? Completely right. Ryofu used Ryuubi’s gormlessness (good use of gormlessness, Aroduc!) against her to seperate her from Kann-u, and then worked her evil magic on the unassuming little glasses girl. Now, Ryofu is evil, Ryuubi is at least somewhat crazy/also evil, and Ryofu’s still messing around with Ryomou’s head. That’s what I like to see. Sure, I could have used a few more beatdowns in the episode, but compared to the early ones, this was development central, and since we’re at the halfway mark, it’s about damn time.

Also, does this twintailed witch have a name yet? This is really starting to annoy me as I’m running out of things to call her. Maybe I should hit up the credits, but you’d think a name would be a spoiler. She’s also averaging under one line per episode, so they could be pulling in a different person off the street each week for all I know. It’s interesting that she’s in quite a bit of pain now that Ryofu has been awoken or corrupted. I’m not entirely sure which to be honest. Ryofu did use the witch’s power when she subjugated Ryuubi, but it could just be augmentation or some such. The feedback/maintainance certainly doesn’t seem to be doing little Miss Evil any good at any rate. Saji’s plan also remains a mystery. It wouldn’t shock me if he was trying to really revive the old Ryofu for real, or if he had some ulterior motive with Nanyou’s ultimate welfare in mind. He’s a tricksy hobbit like that.

And, as always, I question what Sonken is doing in this show. I think it’s inevitable at this point that Ryofu is going to get ahold of her and turn her against Hakufu, but she better get a significant upgrade in power to go along with that. Mmmmmm evil Sonken. Now that’ll be a sight.

Ryomou walks through town alone, thinking about what happened at Rakkyou, and specifically, about Saji. She turned down Ryofu’s invitation to go… somewhere.

Apparently that somewhere was an amusement park, with Saji lurking nearby. She happily greets Ryuubi and Kann-u. Ryuubi’s thankful for being saved at the ocean, etc. Saji lurks… and Kann-u senses something, but he disappears. Kann-u asks Ryofu about Ryomou, but she says that Mou-chan must have had a cold or something. Kann-u’s SUSPICIOUS!

At Koukin’s, Goei’s laying down the law as usual. Hakufu’s cleaning while she greets Ryomou. Goei’s a little ticked about Hakufu letting Ton-chan get away, so Hakufu’s going to be cleaning everything. Koukin gets flattened in the process. Sonken comes running while Hakufu’s ass crushes Koukin, but slips on the newly polished floor and Koukin gets a face full of Sonken. Ryomou just sighs.

Ryofu and Ryuubi ride the teacups. Ryofu makes her move, grabbing Ryuubi’s hand. Kann-u just glares. They move onto the merry go round for more girl hugging. Then the roller coasters. Why isn’t Kann-u riding any of these? Ryofu makes sure to hold Ryuubi’s hand on each ride.

After all that, they get ice cream. Ryuubi makes a mess on her nose, so Ryofu licks it off, calling her a little girl in the process. Kann-u is NOT AMUSEDTM. Ryofu asks why she’s making the scary face with a serious undertone and moves in close, whispering that she’ll take Ryuubi.

Kann-u throws Ryofu’s ice cream to the ground. Ryuubi admonishes Kann-u and protects Ryofu, who reverts to ‘being scared.’

Kann-u threatens Ryofu and calls her out, but Ryuubi won’t let go. Ryofu eggs on Kann-u for behaving strangely and Ryuubi yells at Kann-u again for threatening a friend. Kann-u tries to explain that she’s protecting Ryuubi, but she yells that she’s not a child anymore and glares defiance at Kann-u. Finally noticing everybody staring at them, Ryuubi blurts out that being with Kann-u is embarassing. Kann-u becomes dejected.

Ryuubi grabs Ryofu’s hand and the two run off together. In the crowd, Saji watches.

At a restaurant, Ryomou munches on a hamburger while listening to other people chatter onward about love and such. She loses her temper and spills her drink.

Ryuubi and Ryofu run until they come to a secluded area. Ryuubi stops and admits that she feels bad. She knows that Kann-u was just trying to protect her. Ryofu notes the nearby haunted house and invites Ryuubi to go in with her. It won’t be scary with the two of them. Ryofu grabs her hand and the two run in.

Lots of cheesy effects cause Ryuubi to cling to Ryofu as the evil one smirks. They go in further, Ryuubi shrieking all the while. Ryuubi tries to grab her, but grabs one of the actors. Ryofu hugs her from behind and kisses her.

Kann-u mopes in the amusement park while watching Ryuubi’s purse and a book. She flashes back to Ryuubi talking about how much she loves books. Kann-u picks up Ryuubi’s book and starts reading.

Ryofu holds the kiss as Ryuubi struggles. She manages to push off, but falls off a ledge and is held by the vines and such. She begs for Ryofu to save her, but Ryofu just says how good that felt as she licks her fingers.

Saji watches the pair and flashes back to Rakkyo. He brought Ryofu to the fortune teller girl. The witch kissed Ryofu, to Saji’s surprise and passed some kind of energy into her.

Ryofu convulsed and soiled the area as both their bodies pulsed with the energy. After she let the kiss up, the fortune teller clutched her head in pain while Ryofu lay stunned, but awake.

Back in the haunted house, Ryofu licks up and down Ryuubi’s body. Ryuubi screams. Ryofu looks into her eyes, and using the energy of the fortune teller, tells Ryuubi that she belongs to her now. Ryuubi’s eyes deaden and she repeats that she belongs to her. Ryofu kisses Ryuubi again. Saji turns to leave.

Ryomou wanders the town, still thinking about Saji. Maybe she was wrong… but she knows that she wasn’t. She sees the amusement park in front of her.

Kann-u keeps reading as Ryuubi comes back. Ryuubi apologizes, and Kann-u also apologizes. Kann-u asks where Ryofu went, but Ryuubi just says that she left. Kann-u hands Ryuubi the book saying it was a good book. Ryuubi leaves it to Kann-u, saying that she doesn’t need it, surprising Kann-u.

Ryomou waits at the amusement park for Ryofu, but is shocked to see her meet happily meet Saji. Ryofu clings to his arm happily and the two leave together, smiling. Ryomou hides from them. Saji asks her if it’s alright, and Ryofu says it’s fine. The witch watches them from above.

Ryomou struggles with herself for a moment before following after them through the city. She doesn’t get far before her eye starts causing her pain, just in front of the fortune teller’s table. Ryomou recognizes her from before and realizes that she’s involved.

Saji and Ryofu turn around the corner. Ryomou chases after them, but they’re gone.

Koukin and Sonken finish repapering the wall. Their hands touch. IT’S LOVE. Goei looks on happily.

Hakufu ruins the moment by wrasslin’ with a hose, spraying the lovebirds. Koukin gets an eyeful of wet t-shirt Sonken.

She moves in closer, thinking that Koukin’s sick, putting her now transparent white chest right in Koukin’s face. Hakufu runs over too, but Goei calls her away, and is currently holding a knife, so probably shouldn’t be disobeyed. Hakufu runs out to perform her errands with vigor.

Ryomou stares at the picture of her and Saji in a park. Ryofu comes up to her, asking if everything’s okay. Ryofu tells her how much fun it was, but Ryomou gets up and tells Ryofu to shut the hell up. Ryofu plays dumb while Ryomou runs off. Ryofu smirks at her back. The fortune teller watches too, but clutches her head in pain and stumbles away.

Hakufu’s somewhat lost and/or stupid. She sees the witch in pain and goes over to check on her.

Twintailed evil girl bumps into some guy, and is having trouble holding it together. Hakufu catches her as she starts to fall. She tries to move, but passes out.

She wakes up as Hakufu carries her off. She arrives home as Goei lights the stove. Hakufu tucks the girl in and Hakufu runs off to get water to care for her. She hears Goei call her ‘Hakufu’ and recognizes the name in fear. Hakufu comes back with Goei and the water, but the bed is empty. Goei punishes Hakufu for making up stories and not bringing home the food.

At night in Seito, everybody sleeps. Everybody except for Ryuubi, whose eyes turn empty as she grins.

ha kanu should just get over cry baby ryuubi! her loyalty is apparently not appreciated. ryuubi seems to have forgotten the sacrifices kanu has made previously.

  • mk2000 says:

I thought the fortune teller girl was Teni?
You know, the Goth-Loli Archer girl who went head to head against Ryomou in a Cemetery during Dragon Destiny (and in the manga).

  • Aroduc says:

Definitely not. I finally got around to checking the credts… and she’s credited as 左慈元放 (Ouin Shishi).

    THAT JUST RAISES MORE QUESTIONS.

Though does sort of explain why Saji is sort of connected to her.
