Hidamari Sketch x365 #02 — Boo Ladles
July 10th, 2008
Hooray spatulas.
Impressions:
Well, while I personally enjoyed episode 1 a whole lot more than I enjoyed this one, this episode is a bit more like I remember the first season of Hidamari Sketch. All the overanimated scenes are gone and we’re back to very slow paced, very light comedy. We’re also back in the ‘present’ time if such things are a concern to you. Most of the episode was the girls talking about Sae’s sister, Chika, and sending e-mails back and forth with her. Then they made dinner together, showcasing Miyako and Sae’s complete incompetence in the kitchen. Yoshinoya also lamented Valentine’s Day off and on a few times through the episode. If you’re looking for a particularly deep plot here or lots of bullet points to summarize, you’re watching entirely the wrong show. Totali’ll do that anyway when a better raw shows up. You silly people and your need for good resolution.
Hrm… what else to say… Sae’s a meanie for picking on Hiro and putting rotting oranges in her hair. Poor girl doesn’t deserve that. I also question Yuno’s advice to ‘make a paw like a cat’ while cutting. Sure, you want to tuck your fingertips underneath your knuckles, but you also want to use the edge of your fingers as a guide for the knife. Maybe my hands just aren’t cat-like enough for that. I’m also disappointed that Sae managed to grab a ladle when she took her glasses off instead of a spatula. It would have been perfect! Oh well, maybe next time.

Why would you use a spatula for a hot pot? Now you’re just being irrational.
