Impressions:

Meh. It was okay, but this show’s definitely been better, and you’d think they’d do something with a cultural festival if they were going to toss one in, but nope. It was really just an excuse to put the girls in qipaos, and Yoshi into drag… again… like this show even needs one. A few jokes were just handled really badly and completely uncharactertically for this show, in particular the Yoshi running gag towards the end. It was of the "if we show it for long enough, eventually it becomes funny" variety with him randomly switching wigs a couple times. That also didn’t really work very well since the first switch was just a color change, then he lost the wig before getting two ridiculous ones. Commit to a joke and go damn it. I shouldn’t be wondering whether something is even supposed to be funny after the joke is already in progress.

The little spat with the two random punks also seemed a bit… well… dumb, and it comprised the ‘plot’ of the episode as it were. Class F has been the dumping grounds for the entire school for the full series. I’m not seeing why this particular slight involved hunting down and savagely beating two guys repeatedly, especially after you fed them Himeji’s cooking to begin with. I’m also very annoyed that they only showed Aiko in her maid dress from a distance. Shouko’s nice and all, but come on here. I’d have traded that minute straight of Yoshi running for the other class A girls in a heartbeat. At least next OVA will be a summoned beast tournament. I’m expecting a lot better from that.
