The World God Only Knows #06 — The Montage Arc
November 10th, 2010
Okay, no more montages now. Please.
Impressions:
Meh. I understand what they’re probably trying to do with Kanon, but they’re doing it so slowly and badly that she’s coming off as a self-centered spoiled brat instead of a sympathetic character. Surprise of surprises, the idol is an attention whore. Her deal is that people didn’t notice her before and/or she was forgettable, and I cannot wait for the long reveal explaining that in detail next week. They show that by making her have a mental breakdown whenever she notices sombody paying attention to anything other than her. Oh no, in hundreds of people, one person has something more important going on in their lives at this moment than heaping adulation on you. How ever will you survive?
It certainly wasn’t helped by the fact that it moved at an absolute snail’s pace and was split up by a bunch of random "LC wanders around" scenes. There were also some very bizarre scenes in the stalker montage through the second half. Kanon started calling Keima out to support her all the time, so they montaged ‘important’ things, and then showed her calling Keima out just to look at him for 30 seconds before bolting. If they had played them off as a joke or another facet of her social disfunction, then fine, that could have worked. But they didn’t. Neither of them even said anything. Keima took a sip of coffee, we got a brief montage of all the posters of her and videos of her in the area, and then the scene just up and ended so LC could pop in and make googly eyes at Kanon again. Just do her already and bring this to an end. Either of you. …Preferably LC.

This arc is three episodes!? Preposterous!
