MM! #03 — Eye of the Tiger

Remember, rape’s only a joke when it’s girl on girl. Or involves flutes.
Impressions:
They didn’t do nearly as good a job with the drama this week as last. I particularly didn’t like the flowers and clouds and puppy dog delusion in the middle of Yuuno have a complete mental breakdown. That was jarring and completely out of place for the scene. There are so many ways that they could have handled that much better than a gag right there. The clincher of Mio tagging Tarou in the knee to force him under Douchey’s punch was also really corny and not helped by the electric rock playing in the background. Meanwhile, all this was set against the introduction of Yumi, Yuuno’s lesbian and sexual predator friend. It kind of undermines your point about how traumatized Yuuno was when you were making jokes about Yumi ‘violating’ Mio not three minutes earlier.
It was still okay though. Tarou earned some man points for going out and confronting his woman’s attacker and Xebec could have played his beating off for laughs or done some kind of horrible "this is nothing compared to how she hits me" schlock, but my fears didn’t come to pass. The super hero punch at the end only made the Mio thing even worse though. I don’t feel much for or against Yumi yet. I’m most curious about how she underwent puberty between the first and second halves of the episode. Maybe her arc is going to be about self-esteem issues of being an indiscriminate sexual predator with tissues stuffed in your bra. Or maybe they’re saving that one for Tomoko in Forte.

Actually this show is horrid, repulsive trash and I can’t see why you don’t realize that
