Occult Academy #11 — Witches, Witches Everywhere
September 13th, 2010
Because apparently magical girls is how we’re going to end this.
Yeah, yeah. I’m a little slow today. Blame half-price wing Mondays.
Impressions:
I love how Uchida was a total sack of piss this episode. Wait, no. Not love, the other word. Oh right, detest. Mikaze brings him to her little cult, shoves her tongue down his throat and humps him before whipping out a ball full of demons and telling him to kill Maya. So of course she can be trusted! Maya’s a witch! She must die! Not the person with a ball of demons in a crazy cult who has been lying to you the entire time. Also, you have to kill her, Uchida! Why you, and not any of the cultists? Who knows! And no, don’t try to prove this wrong. Fight against knowing the truth. Ignorance is bliss! That’s the manly way! Good god, I hate Uchida.
Thankfully, the last quarter of the episode was significantly better. Or at least more watchable once they got to the surprise reveal that Maya’s not actually dead. I never saw that coming and am so thankful that we got a couple minutes of Uchida bawling his eyes out over it. Meanwhile in the future, Maya’s father’s alive, which sort of dulls the impact and sense of Mikaze revealing five minutes later that she’s the one who killed him. Oh, and Chihiro’s also a witch. What a twist! I guess the show deserves some credit for finally becoming interesting again, it just would be nice if the writers hadn’t clearly lost control of the plot and started a desperate bid to try to shock and awe the audience by piling in every single possible twist from the brainstorming floor into the least amount of time.
Preview:
Cure Black fights Cure White while Uchida pisses himself.

It really is a shame that this show is falling apart the way that it is. Bunmei was pitiful this episode and Maya stomping him out did nothing to progress either characters’ development. Plot twist was seen a mile away and after 11 episodes into this show…Bunmei is still useless. Even YÅko Hikasa and her sexy voice may not be enough to save this show. I will continue to believe…
