I think my scouter just exploded.

Impressions:

Let’s just say my stomach for shoujo is not good. None of this made a damn lick of sense to me. Girl is in love with a guy who treats her like she’s a piece of crap and she hangs out with a bunch of punks with hearts of gold who have no ulterior motives on her whatsoever. Did they even try on this premise or did they just throw together a punch of character sketches and pick whichever landed closest to the stairs? I already have an allergy to the "unwitting therapist" quasi-genre of shows and this one looks to be no different. I’m sure Kotoko will slowly ‘heal’ Naoki and make him a happy member of her clique while at the same time learning to understand why he’s so standoffish.

Art and animation was pretty middling at best and often times just plain downright poor. The eyeless ‘background’ people were almost as freaky as Okawari’s completely shadowed people. I’m not a fan of the character designs at all. The chins were especially scary. Some were pointed and looked like they could take out an eye… others just randomly became huge. It wasn’t particularly funny, or… well… terribly interesting to me at all. Seems like Just Another Shoujo Show to me. It certainly doesn’t help that Naoki is being presented as an irredeemable piece of garbage (with I’m sure a heart of gold and good intentions to be revealed 6 episodes from now.)

So… yeah… I’m really not particularly interested in seeing more, but as far as I know, there hasn’t been too much shoujo anime lately… at least at this density.
