Mitsudomoe #01 — BEHOLD! PENIS!

July 2nd, 2010

This is all kinds of wrong, and yet… strangely right.

I feel like some education should be required here to head off any stupidity. The term Mitsudomoe has nothing to do with ‘moe.’ It’s a shinto term referring to the eternal conflict between the three forces of man, heaven, and earth.

Impressions:

I think to fully understand this show, you have to at least view the opening gag.

This was off-the-walls bizarre, but extremely well made and mostly hilarious throughout. Only mostly because Sans Testiclés’ explanation and playing of the game (whose name escapes me) at the start was lame and drawn out to hell and back. As I mentioned before, this has the same staff as Minami-ke and it shows. You can already see the huge cast of side characters in the background of the episode and OP even without them saying more than a line or two, and even beyond that, it was divided into three separate portions again; the introduction game for the numbered Marui sisters, them deciding to hook up whose-his-face with the ‘hot’ nurse by mangling his penis so she’ll be forced to look at it (sex to follow, of course), and then the times and troubles of Nipple the Hamster. It’s a rough life when you’re a hamster… named Nipple.

The animation in the show is great, although the character models could simultaneously stand to be more detailed (faces) and less detailed (please no more camel toe… please). The music is also a very nice jazzy bit that keeps things going. I’m strangely intrigued by the kid with a 69 on his hat who seems to be at least four or five years older than the rest. Otherwise, the kids are hilarious while the teachers are just props for their jokes. I actually have already developed something of a seething hatred for the nurse. That’s got to be a new record. The humor is totally sophomoric, but they stay away from combining little girls and penises in too creepy a manner. They’re definitely treading a fine line though and it’s only a matter of time before something turns creepy.

All in all though, I thought the first episode was absolutely hilarious and extremely well made from start to finish. I fully accept and understand that there will be plenty of people turned off by the very low brow humor, but nuts to them. There are a few rough edges, but this is easily the pick of this season for me thus far.

Nipple’s troubles continue.

Great visuals. Great music selection. Great voice work.

And I laughed. I really did. Bursted out with such laughter during the aftermath of the penis hunt in the infirmary I bet my neighbours heard me.

    A++

Hilarious stuff, just hope they dont’ re-use too much looking at the next episode previews.\
Feels like I should be finishing minamike?

  • TOKWA says:

    The light it burns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Solaris says:

This looks like a bad clone of Kodomo no Jikan

    • Aroduc says:

That would imply that there was anything good about KnJ. Besides, it’s really not.

      • Solaris says:

Oops maybe it was a typo: just replace “bad” with “worse” :P
Plaiyng with the copule kids + sex jokes has always been a risky bet, so they’d be careful, very careful. Anyway, i kind of liked Kodomo no Jikan because they did a good job keeping the show in a safe range. It doesn’t look like they’ll be able to do it in Mitsudomoe.

      • Kaisos says:

Kodomo no Jikan in a safe range? What the hell are you smoking?

      • Albedo says:

Solaris is either delusional, has selective memory, or is being paid to say that.

      • Solaris says:

Or maybe all the three of them XD.

    • zalkor says:

And people thought Hanamaru Yoichien was gonna be like KnJ.

I laughed from this episode more than I laughed watching the all Arakawa episodes.

  • The Phantom says:

Even if is a comedy of sorts, ecchi and lolis is a combination that I cant stomach, so far it seems to be mostly a comedy, but this show can cross the border between funny and openly offensive in a couple of seconds.

I’m definitely keeping my distance from this. No offense intended for those that like it as a raw comedy, I just find the combination of ecchi and a little girls rather offensive.

  • Anonymous says:

I found it quite enjoyable. Most of the ecchi jokes were done at the expense of the teacher’s and didn’t really have any pedo overtones or anything.

I’ll keep on watching this as long as they keep the comedy going!

  • Hexmage says:

Count me in as another guy who’s weirded-out by the types of things that characters this young are involved in. For example, why did the teacher take off his pants for the nurse when the girls were still in the room?

The show is funny, but I wish the characters weren’t so young.

The theme song is addictive, though.
