Wherein I get distracted by wondering about Chiaki’s leg temperature.

Impressions:

I like how… no matter the series… be in Kanon, Minami-ke, you name it… if there’s snow outside and there are females present, one of them will be in a short skirt. Have the animators never been in the snow? Is Japanese snow warm? Are Japanese females insane? Is the enslavement to the "short skirt in snow" fetish really that strong? I am a male. I have hairy insulating legs. They freeze like a bitch when I’m skiing and I fall into the snow for ten seconds. Yet here is Chiaki on her knees in a snowdrift looking around like a lost waif. Maybe this is just some kind of evolution in action ensuring that the anime females will die out from exposure and never breed. Then again, maybe immunity to cold is up there with hammer space on the list of Anime Female Curiosities^tm.

Annnnnyway… Kana and Fuyuki bond over girly comics. It snows. They frolic. They take a bath. They lose power. They decide to look in on Fuyuki and steal his precious things. Chiaki notices that he’s scared after the others leave and tries to drag him to their place. They all get into a snowball fight… Chiaki and Fuyuki vs the two elder sisters. I’m pretty sure those aren’t even teams. I’d also like to point out that they were bundled up and bitching about the cold about three minutes prior to covering themselves in it. Then Fuyuki got to be part of the Minami skinship in the cold. For some unknown reason, he extracted himself from them before they woke up to shovel snow.

It definitely won’t go down as one of the more notable Minami-ke episodes, I’ll say that much. I still despise Fuyuki too. He’s a little corner of ritalin in what is otherwise a very energetic cast and whenever he’s on screen everything slows… down… to… a… crawl… while… he… forces…others…to…have…thoughts…for…him… And extracting himself from the sisters? Who is he kidding? That was probably the closest to a sexual relationship that Fuyuki is going to come in his life… at least until he’s arrested for insider training and is becomes the jailhouse girlfriend of a man named Bubba.
