The Demon King in the Back Row #04 — The Rainbow… Destroyed

April 23rd, 2010

Two green haired characters? Madness.

Impressions:

Certainly nowhere as good as last week’s episode, and the fact that this Terea (?) girl has shown up out of nowhere to take center stage without even so much as saying boo in the OP practically gives away that she’s either not long for this world or is some minor evil underling. At least she’s amusing, what with her penchant for riding around on Sai’s head and keeping his face in a leglock against her crotch. Hattori also looked so much better in a sportsbra and gym shorts than her usual getup. Hopefully Sai’s destroyed all of her samurai crap at this point so she has to move up to the modern era of form fitting spandex instead of rolled cotton wedged into her butt.

Like I intimated, nothing really of too much note happened this week though. They stumbled upon a super magic map to One Piece, Fujiko stole it walked off with it, Kena stole it back and plastered it all over the school, and then the party went off to the dungeon to level up and gain 50 GP. I’m not really sure why Sai keeps accepting suspicious magical items from Fujiko after knowing that the last one had black magic mixed into them, but at least his stupidity is more than well documented. Kena also remains a pretty cute little evil mastermind. I wouldn’t be shocked if she knew about Fujiko and the whole urine panic thing was just to defuse that. I do want to see her go into her evil mode a little more like she did in the first episode. Hell, I wouldn’t be shocked if she was standing invisibly in front of Sai during the whole naming thing and she was the dark overlord all along.

I can sympathize with Sai’s plight. If I were in his position, I’d call Junko an uncute tomboy and have her blast me to LEO- Wait, wrong anime.

My point is, If I were in Sai’s shoes, I’d go on a rampage and have a loyal army and a very buxom, older mistress on my side.

But that’s just my opinion. I doubt Sai can become a very good Demon King anyway.

He doesn’t want to be a demon king….and his denial is making it hard for him to be one….

He should create a harem and conquer the school first…lol

      • chad001 says:

He’s already on it… and if the OP’s anything to go by, by the end of the series, he’ll have control of the Overworld (Junko) the Underworld (Fujiko) and the Political world (Shiraishi)…

        See? He’s a natural!

      • Arizth says:

Ya kno’, in the black and white world of contemporary anime, someone could well qualify as a Demon Lord simply by bringing about a large change in government, thus effectively “destroying the world” (while making a new one?)

I don’t see why Sai couldn’t earn his devil wings AFTER becoming Pope and destroying…err, changing the world for it’s own good.

  • Aex says:

Glad to see that Hattori seems to be firmly in Sai’s harem now. Hope next episode we see where she ran off to. I really don’t know what to make of Keena. Is she a complete airhead or a genius?

Teruya seems fun, but she isn’t in the OP or ED, so I hope she doesn’t die in the crypt when whatever happens happens. Then again, Sai’s man-servant isn’t in the OP either and he’s still around, so who knows.

And is it just me, or is Fujiko really bad at being two-faced? She says she believes in Sai, then as soon as something gets stolen, she immediately blames him, calling him a demon lord. Great way to gain trust there…

    • Nanaya says:

The line between blitheringly stupid/airheaded and scary-genius is insanely thin, even in real life.

  • chad001 says:

Wow… Teruya’s mroe than likely, like Tama from Omamori hiamri, in which she isn’t in the OP, appears to be the eBig Bad, then joins the main character in the end. And for the record Aro, Sai did mention his scepticism of Fujiko’s item, just him, being the puss- MAIN CHARACTER that he is, he was frightened into submission and took it… and they needed a plot device to to allow Fujiko to show up and watch as Sai fixes her familial issues, and falls in love with him. And there’s the formula.

For the record, is it just me, or do all of the “captured” girls, show hide their love for him, by insinuating that they’re manipulating him? (minus Keena of course, IT’S IMPLIED)

    • Aroduc says:

Pfft. He was about as skeptical of playing magical catch as he was of taking another brainwashing item made of EVIL from her.

  • rufe says:

Very curious about the older brother’s story…

  • wilson191 says:

Keina and hiroshi is starting to piss me off…

Hope next week will be packed with action…

  • Yue says:

What? Another GREEN~HAIRED GIRL??? We need more BLUE~HAIRED GIRLS!!! XD

  • Rawr says:

Aroduc, do you have something against female garments? I mean, you hate their swimsuits, burumas, and all that fetish crap, but now you even hate fundoshi?

  • meganeshounen says:

    >>Hell, I wouldn’t be shocked if she was standing invisibly in front of Sai during the whole naming thing and she was the dark overlord all along.

H-Hold on, I think you’re onto something here.
