Persona – Trinity Soul #01 — Suicide is Painless

January 5th, 2008

Where are the Evokers?

Impressions:

Good lord were the first 14 minutes or so tiresome and boring as sin. It picked up a little bit during the rape/persona eating interruptus, but then went right back to being tiresome. At least the art was pretty consistently decent, though I could have done without the opera at the start or the unneeded rap leading into the commercial break. The music was pretty well done other than those two parts though.

I’m a little disappointed that they dropped the Evokers and are letting people summon their Personas without shooting themselves in the head, but I’m also not really surprised by that. As I’ve said before, I’m not really a huge fan of the MegaTen games anyway, so I’m probably not the best person to judge it for fans of the series, but they didn’t seem to be selling the game connection all that much anyway.

Overall, this was mostly just very very boring. It certainly didn’t give me any compelling reasons to uproot Kimikiss as the current points leader for Saturdays, which is probably the most important thing. Perhaps others will be more sold on the intrigue and investigation aspects of the show, but they just never drew me in. Best of luck to you game fans who follow this one.

I never liked the evoker in P3 the first place. It just looks too suicidal.

Though I am curious if any of the P3 cast will make a cameo.

Really? I thought the evoker was the most awesome morbid appeal of persona.

This was pretty interesting. Why would you lie!

But yea, this is a lulzywouldublogthis kind of show. ;P

  • […] some summon or monster (most likely) as his “pet”…. coolbut, randomc post and seiha post a little discourage me to watch this […]

  • Stalker says:

    Uhmm.. summons, monsters, pets?

A ‘Persona’ is a reflection of one inner self, not just a mere pet or creature. That’s why the girl was suffering when her persona was about to be devoured.

That’s kind of like the point. There’s a whole slew of Jungian themes I could probably bring out regarding this, but other sites have discussed it in better detail. In short it’s all about “killing” yourself for the sake of defending those who matter to you (and, if you’ve seen the ending of P3, then you’ll know that the Evokers were just a foreshadowing to that event).
